Birmingham Sleepover in August - HELP!!

As some of you may know, in August Dean and I are taking the kids to Birmingham to visit THINKTANK Museum and CADBURYLAND courtesy of Tesco Vouchers. As a long distance from home we are spending the night in a Travel lodge.

I don't want to come off plan as such - not worrying re weight gain but worrying incase levels go too high and I suffer physically when there thus ruining our trip.

We will be leaving at about 6am on the Saturday morning and should reach Birmingham about 11am. We are heading straight to THINKTANK Museum. I thought we could take a picnic to cover ThinkTank which would be easy enough for me with SW.

After THINKTANK we're off to Travel Lodge and staying there till about 8.30am Sunday morning.

My problem is what can I take for during the stay at Travel lodge? There will be no fridge, no microwave and no cooker..... there will be a kettle so can take mugshots etc, don't want to take too much fruit as don't want diarrhoea the next day.

We have to be at CADBURYLAND for 9.30am so will need to cover from reaching Travel Lodge to Breakfast included. We haven't paid for Breakfast as ridiculous cost for what was offered!

If I pack another picnic for Cadburyland it might go funny as being left in car for a fair bit of Saturday then in hotel room for Saturday evening / night.....

WHAT CAN I TAKE SW FRIENDLY for when at Hotel ? Breakfast on the Sunday can be a Banana and Alpen Light Bars x 2 - what also can I do regarding Cadburyland?

After Cadburyland we'll be doing the 5 odd mile drive home - we should get home I expect about 8 or 9pm ......

Should I NOT binge but just have what everyone else has and enjoy the trip or should I take stuff specially AND IF SO what do you all suggest?

Thanks

Jill

Not sure if this will help but when we stayed at Travelodge last yr, their breakfast is dear at £7.50 each, but kids eat free - up to two kids per paying adult. It's help yourself buffet style, so you could fill up on loads of eggs, bacon, baked beans, fruit etc. & have cereal or toast as a HEXB. Just steer clear of the muffins & croissants if you do breakfast there!

Hiya, do you have a cool box-could you bring some SW foods like salad and cooked meats in it ?

Which travel lodge are you staying in-i may be able to tell you what supermarkets are local so you can pick up something there

I have been known to take my little minifridge into travel lodges on the QT ;-) it fits very nicely in a holdall. Before we got one I used to take a coolbox and use throw away paperplates and cutlery, and have produced some culinary delights in hotel rooms. Things like cooked meats, & salads if fresh will be ok till he next day and from past experience have lasted till at least lunchtime the next day if I put frozen blocks in the coolbox

A box helps them keep better than a bag, if you dont have one maybe you could try to borrow one, or they have them in asda for around a tenner

i would do a local search on Tesco stores - usually there are ones closeby (tend to be the Express ones) and you could stock up on things there .....best of luck! and enjoy Brum..its fab where you are going (from a Brummie!!!) xxx
