Hello everyone,

quick question! I'm 5ft 5, what is my ideal weight for my height/bmi?

Found this on a website:-

If you'd like to calculate your BMI yourself, follow these three steps.
  1. Work out your height in metres and multiply the figure by itself.
  2. Measure your weight in kilograms
  3. Divide the weight by the height squared (ie. the answer to Q1). For example, you might be 1.6m (5ft 3in) tall and weigh 65kg (10st 3lb). The calculation would then be:
1.6 x 1.6 = 2.56. BMI would be 65 divided by 2.56 = 25.39.

A lot of BMI calculators say anything between 18.5-25 is healthy (approx 10stone 8 is a BMI of 25 for yourself) but I have read that under 20 is only suitable for the asian population. If you are white caucasion you shouldnt really go below a BMI of 20. A BMI of 20 for you would be about 8stone 9lbs.

Just to give you an idea I am 5ft 11, yet a BMI of 18.5 would be 9stone 7lbs!!! - I would be a stick insect at that weight!

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for that! xxx
