What am I doing wrong?!

Onwards and downwards!
I am feeling very sad and deflated today. Weighed myself this morning after a whole week 100%, and in my opinion my best week so far, and I have only lost 1lb! I just don't understand, I really don't.
I stayed within my syns, I ate lots of fruit and veg, I upped my HeB's to two a day (as I do original/green and didn't realise I could have 2!), I did 30mins on the exercise bike six days out of the seven, and I was just more active in general (tidying the house and things instead of sitting on my bum infront of the tv). I have a food diary on here (need to add the last two days) so maybe you can look and see if there is something I'm not doing right. But I am just completely .
I wasn't expecting like 5lbs or anything but maybe 2lb for all the effort I put in. I see people on here posting big losses, which is fantastic, and I wonder why can't I be the same :( Makes me feel like
Also, when I started 5 weeks ago I set myself the mini target of reaching 11st 6lbs (which is the lowest I got down to before my holiday in March) in time for my birthday (next week) which seemed realistic, but that's never going to happen now. :sigh:

We were just talking about this setting goals by specific dates thing in another thread - personally I think it's counter-productive to be so specific. Everyone's journey is different, there's no way of knowing ahead of time how much your body is going to decide to lose by a certain date. Maybe try thinking in more general terms, without the pressure of a set date?

You're five weeks in, so a pound loss is not a failure - you'll have weeks like that along the way, where you do everything right and don't seem to get the reward you think you should have. You'll also have weeks where you inexplicably drop down by several pounds for no apparent reason! SW is like that sometimes.

The important thing is that, overall, you're eating healthily and changing your habits. Look at the big picture sometimes, it's really helpful.

Are you eating enough though? My consultant usually asks us this if we are disappointed with our losses.. Are you counting your syns correctly? Are you writing them down in a food diary? How much exercise do you do? If you need any help just let me know - I've lost 4st 1.5lb, 4st of that was in 9 months :), at target I am now focusing on helping others achieve their goals - am not a consultant (YET!!) but I am giving people support, cheering them :)

Honey - maybe you have lost inches rather than lb's - which is just as good!!

There maybe others thing slike is * week looming?? Maybe you need to look at your weight loss cycle in a 4 week plan, thats what My C always suggests for woman as our bodies do very naughty things sometimes!!

1lb a week for a year would give you an amazing 52lbs = over 3 stones!!! It is a nice steady loss, don't feel bad about it, feel proud!!

This is such a good idea as well, I've found it much more helpful to look at my weight on a monthly rather than weekly basis. You get a much more accurate idea of how you're doing when you take a longer-term view like that. :)

I stuck to plan 100% last week and gained 2.5lbs! Blooming * week!
Any way, stop weighing yourself at home!
Stick to the scales at class and avoid sneaky weigh ins for this very reason!...they just arent good for you and your weight can fluctaute daily.
1lb loss is brilliant for a week...I loose that on average and Ive nearly lost 8.7 stone. There is still hope!

I am very organised, planning my weekly food and writing everything down that I eat. I exercise for 5 hours a week and almost always keep my syns under 15 a day. Despite this I have always lost an average of 'just' 1lb a week and I have been doing SW now for over 2 years.

Those teeny tiny 1lbs that everyone else seems to be so dissapointed with have now added up to 102. Imagine if I had got fed-up and threw in the towel at the beginning? I would be at LEAST 7 stones heavier than I am now.

We are not all blessed with the ability to lose a huge amount of weight quickly- please don't belittle that 1lb because they all add up and it was not caring about gaining the odd 1lb that got us here in the first place- 1lb has the habit of soon becoming 20lb- it works with gaining and losing!

Emily - Don't be so sad! I just had two weeks when I lost 1/2 each week and I had stuck 100% to the plan and was very very disappointed but then last week I lost 3lbs almost overnight. It is true that you need to look at a month at a time. You have done fantastically already. Keep going forward and don't look back!

Emily 27lb in 5 weeks??? Thats fantastic!! I think you need to look at the bigger picture here, you've lost nearly 2 stone and way over half way to goal too.. and your body will slow down its losses now and then, its only natural. I think that extra lb's that you were hoping will be off next week, as long as you stay 100% you can't not loose. Good luck this week and I'm sure you'll have a good loss next week. x

Well said CP:D

Some super advice above - just to add my support. I think you are doing brilliantly, and your hard will pay off.

Keep on keeping on (and Happy Birthday for next week)!

Take care, and have a good week xx:)

my weight loss is about 5 days behind me, so if i'm really good it doesn't show until the next week's weigh in, does that make sense? dont' be too hard on yourself, keep up the good work and next week might be even better! 1lb off is still fab! well done you :)

Well said.
This happens to me too.
It just happens, some weeks our losses are lower and there are millions of factors/reasons why that happens (maybe a slight exaggeration there :p!!!).
As Twinkletoes says - look forward and focus on what you may see next week, but most importantly, all of the goodness that you are giving to your body through following the plan. x

I have only lost 1lb in 4 weeks, please be happy with your loss
It is very hard to see all the people who lose lots, when our weight loss is slow.
Good luck for next week & have a great birthday

Thank you everyone so so much for all your advice and comments. After having read through I am feeling much better about my loss, and also feeling a bit silly for posting my little moan in the first place  I really enjoy the new way of eating and could carry on like this forever, I think it is just the exercise bit that I struggle with and feel I have to make extra effort with, but thats just because I'm a bit lazy, lol. In the past I might have let this get to me and I probably would have given in but I'm determined to stick with it this time. Who knows I might lose more next week or I might lose 1lb again or I might stay the same. I just need to accept it and carry on knowing that I am still losing weight gradually and I WILL reach my target at some stage. My next goal is to get my 2 stone award, which I suddenly realised today is only 1lb away now! :D

Eternalflame - I wish I had lost 27lbs in 5 weeks! :D But, no, that is my total loss since I joined SW in July last year. I did a restart 5 weeks or so ago and have lost 5lbs since then :)

Once again, a huge thank you everyone, I don't know what I would do without Minimins, the support on here is fantastic.:thankyou: And congrats to everyone on all your weightloss :happy096:
