help me please

Hi Maidmaz,

I'm no expert but hopefully my reply will prompt someone more knowledgable to jump in! :)

These are my tips for avoiding constipation:
- water, water, water
- psyllium husks every day as porridge
- I'm on CD so I also have two spoons of Fibre 89 every day

However it sounds like these measures aren't going to help you right now... :(

Some people recommend Dulcolax (laxative) and I've also seen a thread about Movicol which apparently uses water to get things moving in a more gentle way than a standard laxative.

If it's really bad you might have an impaction  , which could need medical assistance, although I think Movicol can also help with this.

I hope you feel better really soon :hug99: and that someone else comes along now to give a more expert opinion! :)

Hi Glycerine suppositories might help and senokot is okay. CD do not recommend dulcolax as this can cause extreme pain and cramps in some.

Plenty of water try fizzy this can help also.

Hope you are okay soon.

I'm going to copy/paste a Tea recipe that has been proven to 'move' things in a rather dramatic way. If you chose to try it make sure you don't move far from the 'facilities' and preferably while home alone if that's possible. You won't be able to wait for someone else to vacate.
(1) get a mixture of leaf tea's ,white, green, black, nettle, take one tea bag of each and place in a mug add hot water ,after 5mins "or as instructed on the tea box" place the tea in a large glass (preferabley a pint glass)then add water to the tea be careful not to make the tea too cold you want it to be as hot as possible while still being able to drink it straight down this isn't the type of tea you make then sit down and watch corrie no sipping just get it down yer neck!
(This is from the Lipotrim users forum and it tastes vile but it works like dynamite! You will get abdominal discomfort. But 20 mins or so after taking it you will have to run and the relief will be great.)

After my c-section I was all packed and ready to go home with new baby (in his going home outfit!) - nurse asked me if my bowels had moved since the op and I said "no" - so I wasnt allowed home until I did a poo! Well .... She advised me to drink lots of cups of hot water from a kettle which had just gone off the boil - so I did - and after a few hours it worked! I had to do it in a bedpan so they could CHECK! By that time baby had puked on his new outfit and so back into the hospital babygro for him - I was so hormonal and emotional I wept all the way to the car! Anyway give the hot water thing a go - it works!

Hi Maidmaz,

Lactulose is a stool softener (sorry if tmi!) so hopefully that will help you. However I think it's just a special kind of sugar so will probably knock you out of ketosis.

Probably worth it to get sorted out though!

Good luck.

i use lactulose alot and am reliable informed it isnt adsorbed into blood stream ,we use it for diabetics and it doesnt affect there sugar levels. as well as all the great suggestions you could try abdominal massage . rub up you right side ,slow long drags from hip bone to rib, across your upper abdomen and then down your left side. a hot water bottle or hot bath may also help

Hey Jazz this is what I do if I feel a blockage or trapped wind from my hernia....it certainly helps but is uncomfortable. I do this as I have a big hernia and it usually clears it, though I have ended up in hospital a few times after it didnt work....lol

Hi,

I too have suffered lots from constipation. I am now drinking more, and was advised to try soda water. It seems to work for me as I havent had to take any medication for this recently.

Hope youre relieved very soon!
