Flab2Fab's Weight Loss Journey!

Hello everybody! :sign0144: so not sure where to start but hopefully I'll find my way around soon enough :) I'm 18, 5'5, 15 stone 4lbs (97kg/214lbs) with a BMI of 35 meaning I am obese and a size 20 :(. I have always had a problem with my weight and in the past 3 years I have gained roughly 5 stone which is just awful  I am aiming for a loss of no more than 100lbs and want to go from flabby to fabulous :D

I have a history of crash dieting (which has, of course, led me to put on much more weight than I started with) and various issues with food from not eating at all to overeating. I do eat quite healthily (fish, cous cous, vegetables, chicken etc) and rarely eat junk food! But alas that doesn't seem to be working for me well with weight loss, it maintains my weight brilliantly but I don't loose any :(

I am starting Slim Fast on Monday 7th June and am going to try my hardest to stick to it for a long time but like most teenagers I get bored easily!! So if I do get bored and need a change I have a relative that used to be on Weight Watchers so has all the equipment and point books for me to use if need be. I also have the "The Food Doctor: Ultimate Diet" book which I have tried once before and worked well for me until I started overeating again. :sigh: I have tried nearly every diet and crash diet around and find these to be the ones that have worked best for me in the past.

Exercise wise I do have a gym membership but haven't renewed it in a while and will be doing so at the beginning of July, latest August. I own a lot of exercise DVDs too and an exercise bike so will try to use them a couple of times a week.

Weight on Monday 7th June 2010: 15 stone 4lbs (97kg/214lbs)

My first "goal weights" and targets are:

15 stone 2lbs (96kg/212lbs) - first 2lbs lost

14 stone 11lbs (94kg/207lbs) - first 1/2 stone lost

14 stone 7lbs (92kg/203lbs)

14 stone 4lbs (90kg/200lbs) - first stone lost

14 stone 2lbs (90kg/198lbs) - under 200lbs!!

13 stone 11lbs (87kg/193lbs) - second 1/2 stone lost

13 stone 7lbs (85kg/189lbs)

13 stone 4lbs (84kg/186lbs) - second stone lost

Fit back into Size 18 clothes

Fit back into Size 16 clothes

My "ultimate goal weight" is somewhere between 9 and 8 stone @ a size 8-10

Heya,
you seem to be pretty serious about the whole weight loss thing, obv. as you're on here. The one thing I would say is that slim-fast probably isnt the way to go. I totally feel you on the impatient teenager thing. But with slim-fast it generally isn't a permanent change, as soon as you get down to the weight u want and go back to eating real food the weight gradually starts piling back on. I'd suggest just a really healthy diet with lots of veg and stuff. If you're going to be rejoining the gym then it'll be falling off you in no time anyway.
Best wishes.

Welcome, best of luck with the start of your weight loss :)

Thank you for the advice :) I guess that's my main problem the healthy eating, I eat really healthy but even when I'm eating 1200 calories worth of food like fish, chicken, cous cous and vegetables it still seems to maintain my weight rather than let me loose any :( It may be that I just use Slim Fast to loose the first couple of stone and give me a boost then resort back to healthy eating!

Thanks QueenOfTheDamned and Rigby :D. I am finding it very useful! I think joining this forum is definitely going to help me a lot with the whole dieting process in general and will keep me motivated too!

07/06/2010: First day!

Weighed myself this morning - still at 15 stone 4lbs (97kg/214lbs)

I've had 2 exams today  the first one did not go very well and the 2nd one I decided not go to :sigh:, but sticking to the first day of my new diet has been a success!

  • Breakfast: Slim Fast Rich Chocolate Milkshake, 2 slices of wholemeal toast with 1tsp butter
  • Morning Snack: 170g green grapes
  • Lunch: 2 WW sausages, 2 WW bacon rashers (ended up having to cook 4 bacon rashers as the first 2 turned into charcoal! :sign0007: I always forget that they only take a couple of mins under the grill) + 1 dry fry egg
  • Afternoon Snack: Total 0% Yoghurt + 2 tsps strawberry jam
  • Dinner: Slim Fast Chocolate Crunch meal bar
  • Evening Snack: Slim Fast Chocolate Caramel Treat snack bar
  • Water: Had my minimum of 8 250ml glasses and will continue to drink more through the evening/night. I always drink more than this + on most days drink double, I had a kidney infection as a kid and had to drink 4 - 6 litres of water a day and never gave it up!

I very rarely eat 600 calories in one meal unless I'm eating something very meaty and full of potato or pizza etc. So whilst I am doing my exams it's important for me to spread that 600 calories throughout the day, especially in the morning (for the next 2 weeks I have an exam most days @ 8.50am and 1.25pm! :flamingmad:) so at the moment part of that 600 will go towards having a more of a substantial breakfast and afternoon snack.

:17729:
(saw this on the smilie list and just had to include it somewhere, I'm sure we've all been in the same situation many times before :giggle:)

08/06/2010: 2nd day!

Another exam this morning! It went well but I could have done much better... oh well that's life.

  • Breakfast: Slim Fast Rich Chocolate Milkshake, 2 slices of wholemeal toast with 1tsp butter
  • Morning snack: Slim Fast Chedder Flavour Bites
  • Lunch: 5 fish fingers with salad
  • Afternoon snack: 170g green grapes
  • Dinner: Slim Fast Rich Chocolate Milkshake
  • Evening snack:
  • Water: 8 250ml glasses +

It's my mum's birthday tomorrow and made her birthday cake today. Only had a teaspoon of cake mixture (and then another teaspoon of icing!) as I love the stuff - not as good as cookie dough though! I'm not really looking forward to tomorrow food wise, so many calories and grams of fat are going to be around..... :( Will save some calories by only having fruit as snacks and cut back on the 600 calorie meal allowing for a nice big slice of the lemon drizzle strawberry cake I made :D

I was supposed to be going to Download Festival tomorrow (I go every year!) but sold my ticket due to my bipolar being sh*tty at the moment and the most unreliable friends. At least I won't be pigging out on foot long hot dogs and consuming lots of calorific alcohol for 4 days!

Breakfast: Slim Fast Rich Chocolate Milkshake + 1 slice of toast with 1/2 tsp butter
Morning snack: Slim Fast Chocolate Caramel Treat
Lunch: N/A
Afternoon snack: N/A
Dinner: 3 slices pizza, steak in ciabatta roll and for pudding... LOTS of cake
Evening snack: N/A
Water: 8 250ml glasses +

Awful diet day, the amount of sugar I must have consumed I don't even want to think about. Purposely didn't have lunch or an afternoon snack because I knew I would be eating 14 million calories for dinner, fortunately I wasn't hungry during the day.

bah dont worry about it, lol.
Yeh I feel you on the whole healthy eating thing, tis a tad pants, but not as hard as you think once you've found some recipes. I think exercise is the big thing as well, really helps.
Best wishes and good luck with the exams, I soooo don't miss alevels! lol.

My internet has been broken for the last 3 days and I'm not sure when AOL will help to get it fixed ! So quickly logged on at my friend's house. I haven't weighed myself yet, I have decided to wait a week instead rather than every couple of days. I have 3 more exams to go and then I'll get my gym membership renewed. I'm not sure when my next update will be but things are going well so far! :)

Heya, hope the exams go/went ok.
Best wishes
