Need Help!!!. NEED VLCD HELP.

I wanted to do a VLCD, without Powerbars, or substitutes. I don't really have the income to constantly buy things as such. Can I get a sample menu, if there is a such VLCD. I wanna lose these pounds, and not the money in my pocket.

Thanks for helping.

I think you are going to find that hard. VLCD uses MRP's. If you eat only plain boiled/grilled vegetables every day for every meal and NO starchy veg like potato/parsnip/peas etc then you could manage it.

Its gonna be pretty grim anyways.

To eat only 500-600 cals a day with real food is possible, but its ging to taste yuk and you are NOT goign to get your vitamins so you will have to take a real good one.

How about cabbage soup diet... thats easy to do at home (grim but uses real food so less cost)

You could have 200 cals a meal with 2 apples or a packet of ham or 2 eggs or big salad or similar... but you is gunna starve hun. You are going to be hungry because its the extra added protein and fortification in the MRP meals/bars/shakes that fills you up.

I tired to do 1000 cals a day and felt so hungry and tired it was nigh on impossible.

You could try the tuna diet for a few days - 6 cans of tuna and just water should shed u some pounds... I did that for a few days. 3 days i managed 6lbs. That might be an option 3 days on MRP's and then 3 days tuna fest.

But my advice hun is try another diet as MRP's are designed to be VLCD's and food just dont work that way. Maybe a regular diet liek slimmignworld or weight watcher would suit you if you dont want to buy 'products'.

sorry i cant help more hun

Hi Mo,

I have found that doing a VLCD is not expensive, compared to the amount I used to spend on food, and as you get all your nutrition etc from the packs, you don't crave anything else, so no popping out to the corner shop to get chocolate, crisps etc.

I have also tried eating only 1000 cals worth of veg, fruit, meat etc, and it does not work, as your body will not let you stick to it, it will deliberately sabotage your efforts because you will be tired, hungry and grumpy. If you want to eat natural, healthy food to lose weight, do it - stick to rice, veg, fruit, chicken, low fat yogurt etc - but do not expect to be able to only eat 500-odd cals worth and get very far. Any weight you lose in the few days you can manage it will not stay off once your body tells you to give up. Eat something like 1500 cals worth, do some exercise, and you will lose the weight gradually and your body will feel that it is getting enough food (in fact, given your starting weight, even doing this will mean you should lose quite a lot in the first few weeks anyway, then it will start to even out to a more regular decrease). Or do a proper approved VLCD with the meal replacement packs, and lose it a bit faster.

Weight watchers have an online thing, which here in the UK is around £10 a month, which is very useful for keeping an eye on what you are eating. Given that rice, veg, pasta etc is cheaper than processed food anyway, you will still be better off financially doing it this way, I reckon! Or I think you have sparkpeople in the US, which is even better as it is free!

Good luck, whatever you decide :)

I LOVE YOU TEALIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for the help.

I am doing great with my own VLCD....Plus, I have minimins, and Sparkpeople to help out

Well I lost 15 pounds, and this is my 12th day on the diet....I am losing a shitload of weight

Whilst your losses are great have you thought about this long term??

What about when you stop doing your own vlcd?

Have you looked at any of this? You cant live on 600cals a day for the rest of your life.

Im sorry if i sound patronising but just putting the thoughts out there.
