Worried

Becca Wecca

skinny minny here I come!
I've been doing this 5 months now and my losses each week have dramatically slowed down, I really am struggling to lose 1lb a week, bar last week where I lost 3 but thats only because I put 2 on the week before!! Well anyways I'm finding myself having to work harder to lose less.

The reason this worries me is because I still have 3 stone to go, but if I'm finding it difficult to lose the weight that it will eventually stop working. Now I know people say trust the plan it does work, but if I don't see the benefits each week i'm guna end up lacking in motivation and giving up and going back to crap and piling the weight bck on again :(

Does anyone else ever feel like this? I don't know what to do.

P.S Sorry for the ramble :(

First of all, 1lb a week is perfectly fine for fat loss.
According to a lot of things I've read (and I've read a LOT of things :D), the very best rate for fat loss is 1 or 2lbs per week.
More than that, and you are likely losing water and/or muscle mass. So don;t worry about the rate.

The other thing is that it is vital you don't think about the SW plan as a diet. It really has to be a permanent way of living, so if you find you are struggling just now and tempted to start eating the old way again, then it might not work long-term anyway, and you might need to have a look at how you can structure your meals and eating habits so that you are satisfied and full most of the time while still able to lose weight (or at least not gain any).

Thinking about the plan as a short-term measure to get down to a certain weight, and then go back to 'normal' eating might have the effect of making you regain some if not all of the weight you lost.
It happened to me 15 years ago, and I'm determined not to let it happen again, so if the weight comes off slowly for me, fine, as long as I feel I can live long-term with the plan and my new eating habits.

Sorry if this comes across as preachy

I agree with Scan Bran, but also, are you eating a wide variety of foods? Maybe try new recipes and vary your diet. Also, try eating more superspeed foods if you don't already.

Good luck and please stick with the plan, it'll be fine!

Well firstly I agree with the above, 1lb a week is a good loss.

However, if you really want to try and kick start things again, I would advise you mentally start again. In other words, read your books. Plan meals, look up new recipes, maybe try a different plan for a week.

The next thing I would suggest is adding in a little more excercise, perhaps a power walk at lunchtime or in the evening.

If you still continue to lose slowly, then it may just be case thats the rate your body wants to lose, and as long as you keep losing something, you are grand hon.

Don't get me wrong I am happy with 1lb its just the fact I feel I have to work really hard for it. That's what I struggle with. I know it's my fault I got fat in the first place. I just find it difficult to put the work in, and start to lack motivation, that's when I really want to go off the rails!

I try and vary My evening meals, but I must admit my breakfasts and Lunch's don't get varied much. That's because I can never think what to do for them.

I really do want to lose the weight, but just find it too much hard work sometimes :(
