Hey everyone,

What a great site this is, so glad I've found it!!!

Anyway we're all starting this at work after a girl lost 13lbs in 2 weeks and 2 days, so I thought it is definitely worth a try.

I've read all the stuff on here and parts of the book quick but have a few questions.
  1. Are Mullerlight yogurts ok?
  2. Does the meat have to be un-processed eg home made burgers not low fat shop bought. Also I love Iceland peppered beef steaks which looks like formed beef shaped into a steak shape rather than an actual steak, are these allowed?
  3. What's the difference especially in taste between fromage frais, natural yogurt, greek yogurt etc. Think I tried natual yogurt but not overly keen.
  4. Finally somone was talking about the pancake recipe that they use to make muffins. Do you change the recipe at all and how do you make them?
Thanks so much in advance, I expect to be on here quite often as I have never done any cooking for myself so think some times I'm going to have a bit of a struggle. I expect I'll be asking some common sense questions!!!

Anyway here's hoping it all goes well for everyone :)

Hello S-H and welcome to the forum,

Hopefully someone with the English book will respond also as I'm in France and dieting from the original book which has some differences.

For question 2, in France at least, I always check the label. If it's lean meat, less than 5% fat for attack and 10% or 15 max if you sponge off fat, and nothing else added but pepper, fine... but often in the small print you'll see something which is banned!

For the galette/muffins, yes there are numerous variants... (including lemon meringue pie, but I'll keep that one to myself for a while ;)). Before really appreciating a "Dukan lemon meringue pie", you need to have been deprived of the real stuff for a while! Else you'd think it horrible!

For the fat free fromage frais, natural yoghurts etc., I used to hate them all and now find them quite ok... you can add sweetener, but I try to brave it out so that I (try to!) dull my sweet tooth a little. Are Muller Lites fat free?

There's a link for the galette been posted just today and cos I'm just about to run out of the office...!!

Speak tomorrow!

I hope I get to like these yoghurts and fromage frais because I'm not a fan either :8855:

I love fromage frais :)

At 22 stone in 2002, I didn't used to like many vegetables...

And then I discovered hunger.

;)

errmm... I ate spinach for the first time at the weekend! but yes, on the whole, I do... (perhaps it's "with age" that we get to like it too... but I swear I was a much fussier eater when fatter... There were so many things I didn't like to eat)

LOL
i love Spinach. And you must be healthier from eating veg too!

Definitely healthier ... he recommends a multi vitamin per day... which I always take...

and I am being a bit more careful with my egg consummation than on previous attempts because it's too easy to end up eating too many eggs...

I've just noticed that we're the same height and weight Longratia

Yes we are! it will be interesting to see what my losses are like the first week!

that'll also be largely dependent on how you've eaten immediately prior to starting...

For instance, I started on Monday 17th, absolutely full to the brim of food, and lost about 10lbs the first week! Hardly surprising since I'd gained about a stone in a week in England!

If you're moving from Atkins to Dukan on, say, Monday, you'll be cutting back on fat that's for sure... but be prepared for a less good loss than if you were "starting a diet" with Dukan after a hefty eating period.

Well im having a pre new diet binge this weekend. get all my cravings out of the way so im all fresh and ready for new start on Monday!

Excellent, so you'll have a nice hefty ;) weigh in on Monday and a good weight loss by Friday... (with 4/3, one tends to lose VERY well on the 4PPs, then regain some water with the 3PLs, but it's all swings and roundabouts after all)

well Ive done atkins since jan 1st so that means i havent had a pizza since 2009 (OMG)

You can make yourself a Dukan one, once you're in Cruise phase!

girls... I know it's tempting, and I'm doing a "do as I say not as I do here", but you'll be upset on Monday on the scales, and on Friday when you look at your losses, you might be higher than today! I always gain faster than I lose, which is MOST unfair!

Lol me too. But this weekend was going to happen anyway, i wont be as bad as I say as i dont want a carb hangover and TBH I dont think ill be able to eat that many any without feeling full!
just going to go with the flow :D

(I can still eat for England when put to the test, but am a real cheap date on the booze front!)
