Extra Easy Comfort food recommendations?

Hi all

Sorry I haven't been posting much, I've been really up to my neck in it. Went away and had a bad week, gained 3lb and still trying to shift it! Lost 1.5 last week and hoping to lose the rest of it at WI tomorrow morning.

I'm looking for a recommendation for comfort food, if anyone has one. One of our favourite meals on SW has always been to have Quorn Southern Fried Chicken Burgers (5 syns for 2) with syn free chips, beans and a fried egg done in fry-light. Unfortunately Quorn have very helpfully changed the recipe for the coating on the burgers and now they're minging. I'm quite gutted because having this meal when feeling in need of serious comfort food keeps me sane!

So - I need something equally simple (bung it in the oven with the chips and leave it) to fill the gap in the same meal which is either syn free or less than about 5 syns on EE. Anybody got any suggestions? I shall be going to Asda tomorrow so any own-brand stuff from there is good, and our Asda is huge so they have most branded stuff.

Thanks in advance everybody! xx

I know it isn't the weather, but my PERFECT comforth food is ASDA lamb shanks in rosemary or mint gravy (free on red or EE) with a big pile of syn free mash and peas

The shanks are in the chiller section and you just microwave them. They are expensive at about £7 for two, but really worth it when you just need a big hug in a bowl

mine is weetabix and hot milk with a sprinkle of sweetener.

If not that a lovely rice pudding made with milk as my hea and a nutmeg skin.

you could make the SW 'KFC' style chicken and have that with chips and beans _ recipe in the recipe section and I have a photo of the version I made on my profile page x

Cocktailprincess, I'll look for those when I go tomorrow, thank you!

Jen - I think that might be a winner! Going to give that a try tomorrow night, thank you :D

Soccermom - Nice ideas, but I don't think they'll work with syn free chips and beans ;) Thanks though.

Ilovelife - I keep meaning to have a look at that book in class actually, I'll have a flick through it tomorrow morning I think. The soup won't be what I'm looking for but there might be something that is. Thanks :)

What about pasta abnd sauces or the low fat noodles? weight watchers sausages are only 1/2 syn each and they are sooooooo tasty!!! sausage mash n beans??? musy peas, the list is endless really x

Thanks for the suggestions guys but I'm specifically looking for something to go with the above meal instead of the Quorn burgers.

Aldi gammon steaks with mango salsa or a rib eye steak (Asda Organic ones are delish and a good price).

Maybe just some good old fashioned bangers!
I like the morrisons eat well 0.5 syns each and delicious

what about burgers? Cheese and bacon burgers are like my ultimate dinner. we make the burger from scratch (extra lean minced beef, shallots and wochester sauce) and then i serve on a whole meal roll, with a diary lea light cheese slice (HeA) and two slices of lean bacon. then i add tommy sauce and syn that. DELISH!!

Ooops sorry I am often guilty of not reading properly  rice pudding with chips :jelous:. How about tesco veggie sausages? They are sin free & nice

hi helen, have you tried the quorn escalopes? theyre pricey at 7 syns but the mozzarella/pesto, the sunblush tomato/italian cheese, and the mature cheese/broccolli ones are scrummy! x
