Trying to be 'slim at 60'

Wants to be slim at 60
Just found this Forum so will post my details each week. Rejoined SW 13/05/10. Big birthday coming up so want to slim down again. Last time I did it earnest (have dabbled on and off) was when I didn't want to Fat at 50 and I lost the 3.5 stone I needed to. Now I want to be slim at 60. Left it too late to reach target by then but at least I've made a start and my daughter in law and I have set mini goals with the main target being end of October.

Week 1 -3.5 lbs

Good luck Adsnan! My MIL who is 78 is following a healthy eating plan too, shes trying really hard because she is fed up of feeling frumpy and fat, and shes really in the right frame of mind to do it, shes showing really good losses. Just goes to show that no matter what your age or ability, a healthier lifestyle is possible and achievable!

I wish you every success!

Had weigh in last night and I lost 1.5lbs. I know I should be pleased as its a loss but I have to say I was slightly disappointed and a little bit worried. My worry is that next week it will drop to a lb or less weight loss and I have 2.5 stone to loose so was hoping for at least 2 lb last night. I am on holiday next week so won't be going to weigh in but I am taking my scales with me and will weigh in myself and post here. Good luck to everyone else with weigh ins coming up.

As I said I am on holiday this week so couldn't go to class but I had brought my scales with me and my daughter in law and I did weigh in as normal. I have 1lb this week. Now before everyone says its a loss and better than a gain, I am disappointed I have stuck to the Plan religiously even though I am on holiday and it is only my 3rd week on the plan so was hoping for better losses. It was only 1.5lb last week, now a lb. If I can lose a lb next week I know it will be 1/2 stone but for 4 weeks work at the start of the plan I can't hide the fact that I'm disappointed. I wont give up though but one thing I am thinking of doing is having a day off on Saturday just to see if it makes any difference. When I lost 3.5 stone before on SW I found that having a day off a week helped me actually lose weight - I have no idea why, but will be interested to see if it works this time, I'll keep you posted. Thanks for listening, just need to air my frustration :(

Awww, I understand your frustration, especially when you can look around these boards and see people posting bigger losses.

But. A 1lb loss, is not only respectable, it is OPTIMUM for sustainable weight loss in the long term. What is more, it is ADMIRABLE, considering you are on holiday. You should give yourself less of a hard time.

The thing you need to keep in mind, is that this is a long term project. Your extra weight didnt appear overnight, nor will it disappear overnight. But it is disappearing, pound by pound, and you are already doing so much to help this.

I am probably too late to try and talk you out of having a day off. But try and make sure that is all it is. Just one day. You CAN do this, you just need to remember that its not a quick fix, its a way to make sure you get slim, and stay slim forever.

Well I did have my day off yesterday and enjoyed having a 99 cornet :) I am straight back on the plan today had my weetabix and yoghurt for breakfast and will continue with it and hope that at WI there is still a loss. Thank you so much for your kind words I sometimes people don't realise just how much encouragement it gives people to read the comments and it spurs us on. I have realised that I am not going to have lost as much as I was hoping for my 60th birthday on the 20th but at least I will be lighter than if I hadn't started it!!

Ah, I think you will be fine :D

Well done for starting over!

And you may not have lost as much as you would like by the time you turn 60, but your goal is to be slim AT 60. That gives you a whole YEAR to do it. If you lose lb a week for the next year, you will be underweight. So dont do that! :D

Stick with it, and you WILL get there in your 60th year. Like I said, long term plan. I fully expect you to be sitting here a year from now, about to turn 61, and thoroughly proud of yourself for all you have achieved and how great you feel.

Why dont you come and join us in the "Here to Eternally Slim" team if you havent yet joined one? Lots of encouragement and support to be had there!

Weighed in at club and lost another lb this week so I have achieved my 1/2 stone off :) 2 lbs over 2 weeks whilst on holiday with 2 'off' days in that time. I am going to be strictly on the plan this week to ascertain whether I lose more staying on it strictly or whether the 'off day' actually helps or at least makes it no worse. This week is a good time for the experiment as the following week there will definitely be an 'off day' as I celebrate my 60th birthday :) On another note can someone tell me where I get the slimming world stickers from to post on my signature as I'd like to post my 1/2 stone sticker up.

YAY! Well done!! I see you have worked out how to put the stickers in your signature! :D Thats a lovely steady weightloss you have there! Really pleased for you!

Thank you so much. You and the others who take the time to post are keeping me motivated. I WILL be slim at 60 :)

I am getting there another 1.5 lb off this week, so chuffed just hope I can keep it up. Hopefully I will have a lost a stone by the time I go to Euro Disney :)

2 lb off this week and Slimmer of the Week :) I am 1 lb off my stone award so hoping for that next week!

Ooh, congratulations! You did it! and an extra lb to boot! Look how beautifully and regularly its coming off you, you really have mastered this. 3 more lb and you will be half way to goal!
