Hey guys,

im new here, ive tried every diet poss with the exception of atkins. So after thought i have decided to try it as i think its my kind of diet however there is couple things that confuse me. I have bought the book but its not came yet so once i get that im going to read it. I get married in Dec this year and ive been trying to lose weight since jan..and im exactly the same :S so im looking to lose about 4 stone..Anyone think is do - able? the thing that confuses me with atkins is i know you have a limit of 20g for your first 2 weeks phase 1.

ive been looking at labels of food i have in the house to see if its ok or not. Is there a limit to how many eggs you can eat per day/week? i have garlic mayo at home as well and looking at the label for that the carb is pretty low however it says carbs of what sugars is nearly as high. Does that mean im not able to have this as it has sugar?

Sorry for all the questions, im trying to figure out what i can keep in my kitchen and what to throw away. lol

Hi Mrsstb- congrats on your upcoming nuptials :D
Just look at carbs on products doesnt make a difference whether its sugars or not its the carbs that count. So if the mayo is 10carbs per 100g thats what you count hon.

Have a good read of the stickies at the top of the page...'so youre thinking of starting atkins' is where I learnt most before I had book, and also ask away they are plenty of people on here who know lots :D

thank you :) cant believe the food you can have in this diet and ive never tried it... lol

im going to go have a look at those threads.

silver spoon make a sugar called 1/2 spoon ie half the carbs

hi and welcome to the atkins mad house :D
you can stay on induction longer than 2 weeks as you have more than a stone to lose. also u need to drink lots of water and get your carbs from healthy greens :D

Hi love, and welcome to our little forum. :)

Welcome to Atkins. x

thanks for the welcome guys :)

read the sticky thread and really helped me be less confused! woo lol. however the thing thats now confusing me( easily confused eh?) is on the thread it tells you to not eat meat which has nitrates but ive been having a nosey on asda website at the meat labels there and pretty much 100% of them have the Preservative (Sodium Nitrite). question is..are they the same thing and if so..where do you get meat that doesnt have it?

Hi and welcome. In answer to your question I buy my meat from the local butcher and he assures me it doesnt contain any

TBH i have never bothered about the nitrates. It doesnt slow/stop loss its just health benefits i think.

I agree, i wouldn't worry either, oh and it's pretty much only processed meats that have nitrates, i.e Bacon, sausages etc. A joint or a steak wouldn't have any.

hi and welcome.

Good luck with your loss
