Anyone been/getting married abroad?

Hey

i get married in Mexico in about 10 weeks, WAHOO!

i just wondered if anyone has got/is getting married abroad and could share any hints/tips/advice!

I did in October 2004. I got married in Limassol Cyprus.
I would advise....checking with the airline if you are allowed extra baggage allowance for the flight - I had 2 suitcases filled with favours and dresses etc as well as everything else!
Just relax! Make sure that you have insurance to cover everything! Not that you want that to happen, but at least you will be covered. Never put all the clothes in the same suitcase for the same reason - if a case gets lost, you could be without everything rather than just one outfit.
Make a point of meeting with your co-ordinator as soon as you arrive...dont be fobbed off with things that you dont want...if you have an idea, go with it, dont settle for less!
If you are in that country for a few days before service, dont get burnt! The last thing you want is to look like a lobster with stripes in your dress!
Most importantly...enjoy the day! It is over far too quickly!

we are already married but we are having a reception dinner for all my family and freinds in Australia in december (as im an aussie)
cant wait, and also cant wait to lose the rest of my weight!!

Very exciting for you!
I havent but went to a close friends wedding in Lindos, Greece last year and can defo advise that if you are getting someone there to do hair and make up etc you go and have a trial with them asap as my friend left it until 2 days before the wedding and found the lady could speak no english and made her look like a 1980's cheerleader with a big perm!
Caused lots of tears and panic!
Enjoy it hun x!

hahahahaha! how funny! that's exactly why im not going to get it done locally, i can't imagine mexican hairdressers will make me look how i want to look! i am quite good (if i do say so myself!!) with hair and make up, so instead i've invested in GHD's that work in Mexico and spent £250 on gorgeous Laura Mercier make up :)

I got married in Glasgow 38 years ago! Does that count?

Woohoo how exciting! I got married in Mexico 2 years ago next week - it was the best decision we could have made, it was fab! Any questions, ask away!!!
