Best driving school?

Honeyoc

Is a crunchy mama!
Only just got around to learning to drive  I've received my learner's license and all ready to go! Only thing is that there are about a hundred million driving schools to choose from. Which one should I go for????

Hi my advice is not to go for the ones like AA and BSM. The reason being (maybe others will disagree) is apparently they spend time on the side of the road talking about driving (where oil etc goes) and not actually doing any driving IYSWIM.

Where in London are you? I'm N London and I've looked in the local paper and am going to book 10 lessons for £160. I've looked up and checked them out online first.

Thanks Big bear! Thanks for the advice, I was going to go with AA lol, only because they seem to be the leader in that industry. I have no idea what to base my choice on

I'm in SW London so I'll check some local schools. Thanks again!

Ah that's ok it was just my old instructor (4 years ago retired now) told me that this was the case with them, maybe I'm wrong.

There are good deals with the local driving schools check some of them out. LOcal to us they are about £20 per hour and a block of 10 for £160 so I'm going to do the block.

Look at schools that have been established for years not your one man band ones lol..

I'm starting to do the lessons again as haven't done any for 4 years and due my 2nd baby in October & I'm hoping that I pass by then (fingers & everything crossed)

Good Luck X

Awww thanks so much!!! I'll do some more research and see :D

can you get a recommendation from anyone who is learning now - you have to watch smaller independants as they may drag the lessons out to make more money. I had so many lessons I lost count (although im not a very confident driver) and now i realise he was just robbing me and i could have taken my test way before i actually did!

Is there a 'compare the driving school' website? xxx

My cousins an instructor with BSM and is fantastic. I believe thats the kind of thing they do on your first lesson, which does kind of make sense but after that youre out drving. He has an incredible success rate.

My pals son is learning with a local company who they feel spends too much time on theory and hes not getting nearly as much driving as they think he should be. So much so theyre about to change.

Dont think theres any hard and fast rules, itll vary from instructor to instructor.

Youre probably best asking around locally for some recommendations, going to any instructor thats recommended is definitely best :)

Thanks Starlight! And thanks for the link Ellebear!
