How do you decide you PAT?

I'm 5'5'' and my start weight was 10 stone 12 and a half pounds I had a relatively small amount to loose i know but it crept on around finishing my a levels starting university before that i'd always been size 10/12 and got up to size 14 before joining group.
I was thinking of setting my PAT to around 9 stone 3/5 i'm now 9stone 10.5 and have started to feel uncomfortable in group like people think i shouldn't be there and my cousin who goes to another group said i should stop now but i just want to loose that little bit more to fit size 12 easilyand maybe ten? is this okay? :(

It's entirely up to you. SW won't allow you to go below 'healthy' on the BMI chart but that's the only restriction.

Personally I chose mine as the lowest I can imagine being at and that's still overweight on BMI.:8855: I'll change it once I get there to something within healthy if I feel I need to slim more.

You can set your pat at whatever you want. We have people joining group with only half a stone to lose, the minimum SW let you join for, and they are never judged and not made to feel uncomfortable.

If you are not ready to call it target, then don't. Do what is right for you. There are minimum weights for SW members and 9 stone 3 is nowhere near the minimum so no-one should say anything.

I'm 5'6" and chose 9st as my PAT. I started at 11st 4.5 and am 12lbs lighter.

I get the comments in class as well of "you don't have much to lose to target now, surely?", and I have to say yes, I've got another stone and a half to go, thanks!

I think you should really keep going until you are happy with your size, it will also inspire others to do what you have done

Within reason.;) Some people may not be happy as a healthy weight but it's not a good idea to go below.:)

exactly my cousins pat was 10 stone and when i got there she was like oooh your finished now then i was like well nooo

ive only a stone to lose yet i still attend as i need it to motivate me lol forget what others think and be proud of yourself that youre wanting to become healthy again. Everyone is different and we all come in different shapes and sizes - if anyone has a problem with you talk it over in private with your consultant, im sure she can resolve it x

Ugh... I hate it when people feel the need to comment on my weight, they wouldn't have done it when I was overweight would they?

Anyway, I still go to group, I weigh 9st5.5 and lost all my weight with SW. I do still need to be there. If I didn't then I would put it all back on. If other group members don't think I should be there they can jog on.... I have as much right to be there as they do.

In that case would they recommend people who are at target not bothering to come to class?

I'm fully intending on going to class as many weeks as I can manage once I've got to target! It'll keep me on the straight and narrow and stop me falling into old bad habits!

Blimey!! I don't think it's that bad surely!! I've had new people say to me that I don't need to lose weight and I said that I didn't but I needed to be there so I didn't put it back on again!

I set my PAT as my highest bmi in the healthy range. I have alot too lose though. If I then feel like I want to lose more I have the flexibility to do so.

I definatly think its about you feeling comfortable with your weight and size.

Do what makes you happy! Som any people try to please other people! Be selfish!

I am not that far off my PAT now around 9lbs and already I am thinking about lowering it, which will be fine as its quite high in the BMI range anyway, but my logic was to make it achievable in the first place, better to aim at a higher figure then drop if you want to rather than set it right at the lower end of the healthy range BMI and have so much further to go.

The lowest a person of 5ft5 is allowed to go is 8st,8lbs so at 9.3 stone you would be considered healthy so be exactly what you want to be! Well done on your loss xx

I've gone for something mid-range - I'll change it if I don't feel that it's enough when I get there.
Go with what you feel is right for your frame - we're all different even if you're the same height.
I'm quite muscular (I build muscle easily), so look a lot lighter than I actually am (I now wear a size 10 and still not quite in healthy BMI).
They call me 'skinny' at my group!
Bottom line, is do what you feel is right and don't be swayed by others!!!!
