:sigh: have been doing slimming world now for 5 weeks and have lost 8.5lbs but didnt go last week due to hall taken over by polling station and to be honest I am feeling fed up and bored already, what is wrong with me. HELP.

I mainly follow green days but I am finding it really hard at lunctime as I cannot live without bread but two slices never enough.

I know the plan works but how do I stick to it and make the correct changes without getting bored. I am not a vegetarian but I dont like meat although I will eat a small amount of chicken.

Fab site by the way.

Use weight watchers brown danish you can have 3 slices as a HEB.

Do you eat any other meats like fish or turkey? Is it red meat only you have a little bit of an aversion to?

No I really do not like meat that much in general so I like to stick to green days but I am finding it so hard to know what to eat.

Hello and welcome!

Well done on your 8.5lbs loss - thats fantastic! And I do agree - this site is amazing :)

Sorry to hear of the problems you are having - do you stick to a similar choice of foods each day? I totally get the problem with bread - for me, I cope by just not having it any more and I'm working my way through the HEXB's trying lots of different alternatives (hard at first but I'm getting there).

I personally find the SW plan brilliant for choice and change - I love to cook so the recipe boards here are brilliant for inspiration. Have a look there and also at others pictures and diaries for further inspiration.

Other tips and tricks I've picked up are :

Try different things, use spices, herbs etc for flavouring.
Make things look 'pretty' on a plate (use smaller plates too!).
Sit down to eat, and take the time to enjoy it.

Hope that is of some help. Keep going - you can do it! :) xx

Hi and welcome :D

I'm in my 4th week of SW and it was pure chance that I found this site - I'm doing Bodyoptimise online and couldn't have managed it without help from here, it's been fantastic.

I do all green days as I'm veggie. Definitely check out the recipes on here and the thread with photos I've found really helpful for ideas. Good luck and don't give up because you're doing really well.

Thanks for your advice I will definately have a look at the recipees and will try really hard not to get too bored.

I have had a look at the HE's quickly and you are right there are a lot to choose from, so onwards and upwards.

Thanks guys.

what kind of things are you eating then?? There is so much to choose from you really shouldn't be board :(

Hope the recipe section & maybe having a look through other members food diaries will help you out :)

Basically Jacket Potatos and eggs and salad and veggies and meat free products, muller light yogs and fruit and sugar free jelly. That is about it but I do vary how I do things but as I have always had a very large appetite and married to a marvelous cook I am really bored, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I actually find SW quite restrictive but I am still getting my head around it and I am not a quitter so I will have a look at the books and find some inspiration.

I'm not surprised you're bored then! SW isn't restrictive at all as there is nothing you can't have. If you want bread then have bread but just use your syns for any extra slices. Make a conscious effort to introduce new foods and new recipes every week as variety in all things really helps. I've been doing SW for 10 years now and I'm still not bored!

O.M.G, I really must doing something wrong, Im sorry I sound like an idiot but I was very ill and on long term steroids till about five weeks ago, and as soon as I had come off them I joined SW, but maybe my head wasn't really in gear, so on a more positive note, thanks for your advice and I will definately look at the plan a lot closer and be more adventerous when cooking. Thanks again.xx:eek:

I make sure I never have the same meal more than once every few weeks. I'm so busy planning new meals I don't have time to get bores.

Yes you are so right and I will try to plan my meals alot better, I think I have been scared of sticking to the plan and making so many excuses but no more.

Im on it right now.

Thanks guys.

Forgot to ssy, have a look at this site - it's a blog by BritMuminCanada who posts on these boards

Slimming Eats

Loads of fantastic recipes that will please the whole family and weekly food planners as well

You could have all sorts! Pasta, rice, couscous, bulgur wheat, quinoa in your salads etc.

Definitely buy the 100 free green recipe book from class - loads of good ideas!!

maybe you should try extra easy.. there is more of variety and with a guy who knows how to cook theres soooo much to choose from!

well done on your loss to date - you are doing fantastic!!!

If you get bored, i would recommend having a look at your starter pack books again - and adding some new things to your shopping list.....we all get in a rut, and end up eating the same foods (hands up anyone who overdid the Mullerlights at the start of SW? -oh yes, me!!!!! *hands up*)

I swap from Red to green to EE and find that keeps me sane.

As far as the bread matter, i would just have more bread and syn it - or have a pitta instead? just for a change? Its your slimming world, so you need to make it work well for you!

At the end of the day - you have to choose the foods you like, so only you can change that to keep you happy!

Good luck xxx

Right I'm veggie here are some of my faves.

pasta bake
Spanish omelet
potato bake
qourn sausage with mashed potato and "buttered" veg caramelised onion and red wine gravy (low syn)
new potatoes, quorn mince and gravy, and veg with 5 syn dumplings.
veg soup
carrot and lentil soup

You should lose weight now you're off the steroids - I'm on them all the time and I'm still losing.

We made the potato, parsnip and carrot curry last night, it was lovely. In fact, all the recipes we've made have been good, I'm sure you'll be OK once you get used to it. ;)
