What is wrong with me?

Hi all :wave_cry:

I had my first weigh in last night and I lost four lbs. Now I know I should be over the moon about this but for some reason I'm not. In my brain I'm just thinking, oh well, it'll all go on again so don't get excited. What is wrong with me?! I feel really demotivated today for some reason and can't keep my enthusiasm going. Its my birthday next week and then I've a holiday the following week so I'm probably thinking the four lbs will go back on with those two things. How do you cope with the down days or even the no-reason-to-be-down days?

I usually give myself a good talking to!!!

Sit down. How much did you think that you were going to lose on your first week? Now look at your 4 lbs. Open your book and read it - that's a 4 lb loss - being in black and white makes it more real.

Now, did you enjoy what you were eating? Just give it another week!! (The "Will this really work? Will this really be a long term thing?" blues generally go quite quickly).

You have only 3 lbs to go to get your first shiny!!! That's great!!!

When I joined, I had 2 WI, then my birthday, 2 WI, then an all inclusive 'mini-cruise', timing or what?!?! For my birthday, I went for a meal and stayed on plan. I lost 1 1/2 lb that week. I was sure that I would put on LOADS over the holiday, and was prepared for a gain... I lost another 1 1/2 lbs.(loads of walking, and 'on plan' choices for breakfast and lunch).

Now, everyone is DIFFERENT. We are all unique individuals and lose weight at different rates, even if we all ate the same thing. You might put on over your birthday and holiday weeks. DO NOT GIVE UP!!!! We have all had gains at some point (except the rare few!!).

The only thing that we have in common is insecurity. We have ALL had the first week worry of "Will I really lose weight eating all this???" We have ALL had the "When is it all going to go wrong" worry. Some of us have even had the "Are you sure those scales are right?" worry. That somehow the losses aren't real.

WELL THEY ARE.

We have all worked hard to make them real.

So have YOU!!!! WELL DONE ON YOUR FAB 4 LB LOSS !!!!!

Well done, 4 lbs is an amazing loss (I have never lost more than 2 on any diet.....)

And can I ask (nicely) why would you gain 4lbs in that time???? you can easily stay on track with some forward planning ;-)

deep breathes - you can do it x
