Hi all - I've been posting a bit but thought
I would introduce myself properly.
I'm Kate, 38, a teacher. My weight pre-kids was about 12 stone, but 2 kids later have not got back there - been close a couple of times, through my own efforts and one attempt at Slimming World. Over Easter I hit an all-time high of 14 stone, which scared me enough to get me back to the GL way - my 4th try I think - no reflection on the GL diet, purely my own lack of sticking power. But I have a huge holiday coming up in August, so am putting in a big effort - hopefully by then it will be enough of a habit that I will manage to stick to it.

So I started GL-ing again on the Tuesday after Easter - 3 weeks ago today - and have lost 8lb. Have to say not only due to diet - I'm also hitting the exercise DVDs fairly hard. I'm feeling great - so much energy, no cravings really, have had a few diversions from the plan but got straight back to it. Had a cheese and onion a pasty and a magnum on Saturday - felt so ill! Really sick, wanted to sleep - guess my body doesn't like the junk after all!

I know this is going on a bit - might as well get it all out of my system now....

I mainly follow the nigel denby books and website for recipes and ideas. They give a lot of information on the wonderful health benefits of the diet in terms of serious disease avoidance - that really helps me to stick to it. I remind myself this is not just weight loss, its reducing risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke etc.

Anyway, if anyone is still reading - thanks for listening!
