could anyone recommend a syn free or low in syn fish in sauce.

the boil in the bag type im thinking.

found a couple but they seem quite high in syn value and dont want to blow to many syns tomorrow.

Youngs boil in the bag Cod in Parsley Sauce is 1½ syns each.

Youngs boil in the bag Cod in Butter Sauce is 2 syns each.

Hope this helps you.

The Young's cod in butter sauce is a definite recommendation! Im not a huge fish fan, but this is really nice. I have the parsley sauce one in the freezer, may give that one a try this evening.

cheers for the tips donnie46

i love fish, just wish it was not so damn expensive, or i would eat it everyday for ever.

shall stock up on the sauces you recommended

cheers

Looks like its only the salmon ones worth a try - in dill sauce is 2 1/2 syns and in seafood sauce is 2 syns. The only other ones I could find were smoked haddock in creamy cheese sauce (12) and cod in parsley sauce (11 1/2). Its amazing how different the values can be in such a similar product sometimes isn't it?

Thanks so much for that.

Blimey that is an enormous difference isn't it ??

Good job it is the two salmon ones I would like to try.

hugs xxxx

No problem. I was rather hoping the smoked haddock would be less but I might well try the salmon in dill sauce next week. Thanks for bringing them to our attention.

That is my first choice and I am buying both the salmon ones tomorrow.

I have been buying them all for an elderly friend who now finds it easier to just pop something in the micro-wave and when I have prepared them for her they smell and look really good.

I too would have loved the haddock in creamy cheese sauce. I wonder would it be worth using almost a whole days syns on it.........I think perhaps yes.

Its seems Iceland also do a smoked haddock in a cheese and chive sauce (270g pack) for 5 syns. I might give that one a go instead. I struggle using nearly a whole day's syns in one go as I tend to use them quite gradually through the day and if I am saving them for my evening meal feel a bit restricted through the day.

If you try it let us know whether it is worth the 12 syns though.

Smoked Haddock with Cheese & Chive Sauce, frozen, 270g pack 5 5 13½

I will.

I am having the salmon in creamy dill sauce tomorrow night with 198 grams of new potatoes and green beans and broccoli.

I think I could save enough syns for the evening. I have very few during the day as I tend to eat a lot of fruit and veg.

Tonight I had the salmon in prawn and seafood sauce. It was delicious. The salmon steak was succulent and satisfying. I had it with 198 grams of new potatoes, cauliflower and a roasted red pepper.

Have got the salmon in a creamy dill sauce in the freezer and look forward to trying that one next.

Will definitely buy it again.
