Just starting

Hello everyone i have just literally started doing the slimming world diet and will be joing the group in a few weeks.
i need to loose about six stone - in the literature i have it says 5 - 15 syns a day, i have been just having 10, should i have the extra 5? will i loose weight faster?
 
Hi Cosmic, & welcome aboard! In terms of syns, it is really up to you, but you do need to use them, I would say every day between 10 - 15. The thing you really need to remember, is steady & slow wins the race. I know its really hard, especially when you just want to click your fingers, & be magically slim, but if you can get away from this idea, & just concentrate on small goals, perhaps, say first half stone, etc? You wil be changing the way you eat for life, so that in itself is a real positive. Just remember, steady & slow!!! Very very good luck on your journey x

It's up to you how many syns you have but if you start off with 10 - 15 syns when you are getting a bit nearer to your target or your weightloss drops you can then drop your syns down a little bit lower. That's what I have done and find that if I dont have any syns one day I am more likely to crave a synned item.

Once again good luck on your journey I am halfway through mine and even though it has been slow I have managed to keep losing and it has stayed off. :)

Eating the extra syns will not in itself speed up weight loss, but the level of satiety or fullness you feel by doing this will reduce the chance of you coming off the plan and bingeing on non-free foods, so it makes sense to use as many syns as you need (up to the daily maximum) for regular, long-term weight-loss.
 
Hello - and welcome! This board is lovely and friendly.

Popular opinion seems to be that syns are there to be used and to be honest, it's nice to know that you have room for a little extra treat during the day!

If you eat them all then great - you are allowed to.

If you don't eat them all every day then I am sure this will average itself out over the course of your weightloss journey and allow you to get to target feeling satisfied rather than deprived (in my case, couldn't do this without daily chocolate!) :D
