Blood pressure getting low

Hi everyone,

I've got back from the nurse for my 4 weekly checkup and she found my blood pressure was low compared to my normal readings. I've always been in the 'normal' catagory before.

It's 90/60, which I don't think is extremely low, is it? But I wondered if anyone else had had this at all?

She says it might be because of the weight loss - or perhaps anemia (been prone to that in the past). Going to go and have a blood test and she's going to keep an eye on it.

Is there anything I can do to keep my blood pressure up? or will it just right itself eventually.

I'm going to the docs soon to get checked but it's nice to see if anyone else has any tips or if anyone else has experienced this.

:)

I had a similar anomalous reading once but they did a 2nd reading there and then. Turns out the manual machines are more accurate than the electronic ones.

Surely the quickest way to bring your blood pressure up is start smoking, drink to excess, never exercise, raise your cholesterol etc but I don't think this is the advice you're looking for!

My nurse always does manual readings - she did it a couple of times to double check too. Must admit I've felt a tiny bit light headed now and again, so I think the reading may be right.

No, I don't think I want to start smoking/raising my cholesterol :) hee hee

Well I'll see what the doc says. Hopefully it'll be just something simple.

Hmm... You could perhaps take some folic acid tablets? My boyfriend found that after 8/9 months on LL he went aenimic and had very low blood pressure - but he pushed the dieting thing a little bit too far. He's been off the diet for a good year and a half now and is fit as a bull!
But do watch it - perhaps get a blood test? If you are prone to aenimia it doesn't hurt to keep an eye. x

hi there
my blood pressure is usually quite low and i did get very lightheaded on LL - passed out once and got v dizzy in hot baths.

i would drink the salted marigold veg drink when i felt really low and it seemed to help

The nurse said the doc would prob give me a blood test, so that might reveal something.

Daisydoll, did you have the LL savory broth or the shop bought boullion? I think they have slightly different ingredients. Might try it to see if it helps.

hi
i used the marigold shop bought one

Marigold - green one for me. Still use it now.

I've been told adding a liitle bit of extra salt helps bring up your blood pressure. X

The same things happened to me too - i've just got back from having my blood pressure taken and mines lower than usual. I'm also getting a bit light headed now and again - it's only happened a few times. I havent had the boullion for a few weeks so i'm gonna start having a cup or two a day again and see if it helps!

Ah I'm glad it's not just me - I've not had the bullion either for a few weeks. I've just had some of the LL Savory broth (it does have salt in) in a bowl ov veg soup and I added a sprinkle of salt.

Hope that both of ours picks up again. I'm sure it will.

Pre LL my BP was always in the normal range, and then as I go closer to my target it went lower. Now it is lower than average - it was only my weight that pushed it in to the average range in the first place - I naturally have low BP, I just didn't know it!

Like one or 2 others on here while on abstinence I did get quite dizzy at times, and passed out once, but now I am fine and have no ill effects at all. :)

After the first few stone I have spent all my time on LL feeling dizzy every time I stand up. My blood pressure is now low end of normal and I think I slip into the low range from time to time. What I would say is that when I have been off LL the dizzyness stops so I think it is a side-effect of being on the diet rather than the actual weight loss.

Just don't climb and scaffolding and add salt to everything.
