Anyone else affected??? I'm meant to be flying to Austrailia via Hong Kong on thurday character00117: I am veryworried :eek::eek:

My daughter is currently performing in Ohio due to fly back early hours Tuesday. Think they will be delayed by a couple of days as they must surely deal with the backlog of people who have been sitting around at airports waiting first.

The worrying thing is this could go on for months and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it:sigh:

I have a friend who was due to fly back from florida yesterday they have been told that at the moment its likely the earliest they will be home is the 26th!

believe it or not it works the opposite way. If your flight is cancelled it's cancelled and they'll get you on one asap. If your flight is scheduled to go then it won't be delayed to clear a backlog. So if the planes are flying by then shell be fine. I assumed they'd clear the backlog first but was talking to a neighbour who's a commercial pilot and he said that's not the case.

My friends brother in law is in the US in honeymoon been told it'll be around 10 days before they can find an available seat to get them home.

So I suppose its just a waiting game for everyone. Hopefully the wind will change and the cloud will be blown out of UK airspace.

Scary stuff.

I've got 3 lots of friends stuck at the moment - my sister and her husband are trying to make their way from Madrid by road, train etc - no hire cars to be had! They are keeping us up to date on Facebook - I'm on the edge of my seat - someone told me yesterday that the last time this volcano erupted - it went on for 2 years - I'm due to go away in 3 weeks so am gong to do a bit of Googling today!

My boyfriend is the Retail General Manager at the Airport - there are no customers, and its costing the company thousands in sale losses!!! :(
I hate the cloud of stupid ash!!! :((((

We have quite a few guests still here on the Costa Blanca. They are waiting about a week at the moment to get on next available flights home.

Lets hope the ash disappears quickly. It must be horrible to be abroad not knowing when you can get back to work, school, pets etc etc.

its just awful for anyone whos stuck abroad

im panicking because we go on holiday in 3 weeks ill be absolutly gutted if we cant go :(

My son is supposed to be flying home from Australia next weekend, but it's looking extremely unlikely at the moment....

My Niece should of flown home on Friday from Gambia, she hasn't seen her rep so has no idea when she can come home!! she says it's not like an extended holiday

It's affected so many people!! My hubby was supposed to have been going on a golf trip to Spain tomorrow but flight has just been cancelled!!

My SIL and OH were due to fly to Spain , as it was no go she rang on fri to say could they come to us, but they can't get a train as they are fully booked! I feel so sorry for all the people who have been stranded. Just goes to show you can't beat Mother Nature!

When all is said and done I would much rather be safe on the ground wishing I was in the sky than vice versa!!

It is VERY inconvenient but could have been so so much worse.

I too feel sorry for all those stranded.

xx
