Card Making....

...is my new hobby!

My mum has been doing it for years and i've never paid attention but have recently go really into it!

My trouble is that i spend about 3 hours trying to think up an idea - i really really struggle.

Any other card makers out there and if so how do you get your inspiration?

Hiya, Interested in your post, as I make wedding invitations and everything that goes with a wedding and usually I search on the internet especially wedding stationery sites, and it usually gives me loads of ideas!

Don't know if you have a hobbycraft near you but they have loads of books, and ebay used to have some e-books with ideas in too!

hiya htpink

I've been card-making for years and also like scrapbooking too. There are some great mags about for inspiration and some of them even have a free gift every month. I subscribe to papercraft Inspirations which features mostly card making but also does a bit of scrapbooking too. :)

Mikayla got a great cardmaking kit for her birthday (seems a bit intricate for a 4 year old!) so I reckon I might just get into it myself!! ;)

How you getting on with the card making? I have been doing it for quiet a few years, I tend to go on the docrafts site too look and are a member of Stamping Mad Craft Forum - Index - paper craft, card making and rubber stamping ideas
which is a fab site for having a good chinwag on craft and throwing ideas around. Well worth a look. I love going on there.

Just thought I'd mention again (posted already on a scrapbooking thread) that I'm having a craft clear-out and will be selling loads of card making stuff on ebay (card stock, rubber stamps, papers, embellishments etc)

If there's anything any of you are particularly interested in, give me a shout and I'll tell you if I've got it (preferential rates for minimin-ers ;) ) ... even with the postage I'd ensure it was cheaper than the shops. :)

I did make most of my christmas cards - also made a couple of boxed notelet sets to give as gifts. I seem to have lost interest a bit lately!! Think its the pressure of the ideas over christmas!

hi hels
i tend to go thru phases, i either get loads of inspiration or none at all,
my hubby is making me a craft room in the loft so that will make things alot easier space wise, get fed up of being in the middle of doing something & having to clear away for dinner
xx:)

They're fab!!

And how patient are you photographing them all!!

I made all my own cards a few years ago,but changed jobs,so had less time. Now I'm getting back into it,it keeps me occupied and away from the fridge;)
A lively card making forum is Crafts by Carolyn I regularly lurk, and don't post much, but really enjoy it!Carolyn has a really reasonably priced online shop too, with some great embellishments.Give it a look!:)

I have done card-making for a number of years now - first in cross-stitch and embroidery, then I did glass painting on sheets of acetate then I progressed to full card-making.

Need to make a birthday and Valentine's card for my boyfriend and a birthday and Mother's Day card for my Mother.

Was wanting an exploding card template for a change and had a look on ebay - there is some lovely stuff on there. Exploding boxes, pyramids, octagonals. Am going to have a go at some of those.

Have bought a basic exploding box by email download - for the Valentine's Card - I haven't received it yet but if anyone would like it - free of charge of course - please pm me with your email address and I will send it to you.

Thought it might be helpful to someone here too!

I do less card making now I'm at Uni but that exploding box sounds interesting!

i made my own wedding invitations and everyone was saying how lovely they were. i find it easier when i have a colour and theme the rest of the ideas come into place.

I made all my daughter's wedding invitations - saved a packet! Plus she could have them just as she wanted and they tied in with her wedding theme.

i have only made a few cards lately - life kinda got in the way towards the end of last year! I absolutely love doing it and find it very relaxing and i don't think about food while i'm doing it - but i just really struggle for ideas which is what stops me doing it very often!

I have squillions of mags with loads of inspirational ideas in them Hels ... if you want me to send you a couple (for free of course) then PM me and I'll pop them in the post :)

I'm having a huge craft clear-out and am getting rid of most of the mags.

Hello!

I'm a crafter, been making cards now for 3 years and I lurve it!! Never have much spare money as there is always something I need (mainly stamps)... also started scrapbooking but the cards always come first...

I get inspiration from the internet especially other crafters blogs, I have stopped buying crafty magazines as it was getting quite expensive as I's buy 4-5 a month!

I have a blog if you want to look at it Kerrie's Little Corner although I really need to update it!

Great to see other crafters here!
