What do you wish you'd known when starting SW? (Newbie here!)

Hello everybody!

I'm a (prospective) immigrant from the Cambridge Diet. I've lost 3 stone on Cambridge, and am just 20lbs shy of my goal weight, and think it's time to start introducing food and building a healthy, informed relationship with it again (I used to suffer with bulimia as a teenager so my relationship with food has always been a bit rocky!).

So! I'm looking to possibly join SW tomorrow (still debating whether to do SW which I've never done before or Weight Watchers, which I've had joy with in the past), and I'm really excited! I'm not too sure how SW works bar looking at Wikipedia so explanations would be welcome so that I can make an informed choice.

What do you lovely SW ladies (and menfolk if any inhabit these parts!) wish you'd known when you'd gone to that first meeting. What have you learnt that you'd like to pass on to newbies?

i'm still fairly new to sw myself. one thing i will say is don't be disheartened if you start out with a gain. coming from cambridge to sw usually has people retaining water and of course being full of food. so stick with it!! even if you gain in your first week :)

i wish i'd done it sooner.. honest to god, that is my only greviance.

You wont regret moving to sw should you chose to, i'v done most diets and hands down this is the best, healthiest, flexible, enjoyable way of life, i'm so much more healthier, not only physically but mentally too.
xx

i too wish i'd discovered SW years ago.

I wish that I hadn't wandered off to try all the other plans and just stuck with the one that works for me!

Thanks ladies for all the advice so far! I'm still really torn between SW and WW... I may end up going back to WW as it turns out my old leader (who was AMAZING) is still leading, and I still have all the WW cookbooks... I think I'll give that a few weeks and if it's not working, jump on the SW wagon!

I wish I'd known that just because alot of people lose tons to start with, it doesnt happen for everyone, and doesnt mean it wont work. Also, that sometimes you'll get a tiny loss, or a gain, and feel crap, but you can still keep the faith and not throw the towel in. Oh, and that even though I _always_ had ketchup with dinner, I now cant be aarsed to waste syns on it!
