Can you Do CD whilst Breast feeding?

I did the CD last year... some of youmay remeber me, however after losing 2 stone in 8 weeks I finally got pregnant after 4 years of trying.... all i needed was some weight off my bones.... he he he.

Now to be honest I have not put a lot of weight on during the pregnancy so far which is good I have only gained about 8lbs which is fantastic but once the baby is born I do want to continue with the weight loss so that I can have a happy healthy life with my first born.

I plan to breast feed exclusively for the first few months and wondered can you do CD whilst breast feeding or not?

If I am not able to when would be the best time to start the CD back up?

Any help would be appreciated.

I do not think you should or are actually allowed to do cd whilst breastfeeding as you will not be taking in enough calories etc Your body still needs lots of cals, vits and minerals as you provide for your baby also. That is why I had to wait a year after having my lo till I could do the diet myself. You should follow a healthy eating plan, and the breast feeding may help you to slim down also.

Don't worry, the first 6/12 months or even longer will fly by and then you cab start cd again if you still need to x

That is true, you are not allowed to do any CD plan whilst you are breast feeding. Once you stop breast feeding you can start CD, subject to the usual health screening that your counsellor will go through.

i belive but not sure, that if a baby has other source of norishment (ie is weaned onto solids at 6months as well as still breastfeeding) and breastfeeding isnt babies main source of norishment then you can start. can anyone confirm that?

Nope sorry, breastfeeding is contracindicated - can't do any of the Cambridge Plans.

never knew that. was sure i read that once past six months and other source of norishment was in place, then it was fine.

good job serena gave up on breastfeeds a week before i started then lol.

i first contacted cambridge while i was breastfeeding. my baby was 6months old was on 3 solid meals a day and was only really having breastmilk as his last feed before bed but i was told i was not allowed to do it untill i had compleatly stopped breastfeeding as the concintration of minerals in the diet could upset him
