Hello everyone, I have been on this forum for nearly a year now and my weight has gone up and down and back up again and i am just at the end of my tether now.

I am struggling so much to get some determination to lose weight and yet its all and can think about and its what i want more than anything else in the world.
Why am i finding this so hard, Its so frustrating I could cry.

Please can anyone give me any advice, i mean how do you start and keep going. I just dont know what to do anymore.
Thanks Hannah x x

I'm sure lots of us have been in your position before, I certainly have! I've constantly wanted to lose weight, but the determination to actually do it is much less frequent...

I think it's true that if your mind isn't in the right place, then you won't do it, but I also think you need to be doing the diet that's right for you at the time. Have you been trying the same thing for the whole year? I see you've got Cambridge listed as what you're on at the minute. Why not try something totally different to make a psychological new start? What about slimming world, which is the total opposite to vlcd in being able to eat unlimited amounts?

Don't feel bad about not having lost weight this year, losing weight is hard, if it wasn't we'd all be thin.

Yes I think when struggling with motivation, the best thing is to draw a line under whatever one is trying to do, set a new start date, do the research, plan the meals and be MOTIVATED to start on day one with a week's meals planned, fridge and cupboards filled with the right things and emptied of the wrong...

Leastwise that's my way... (over and again!).

I've had plenty of struggles with my weight loss journey - hence the weight I am now. I believe I have found a plan I can stick to which is teaching me healthy eating and portion control. I dont feel so overwhelmed if I take it a day at a time and eat what I want in moderation.

If you are struggling with cd maybe its not the plan for you. As had been said whatever plan you follow your head needs to be the right place. But if you truly want to lose weight you can and will do it. Maybe look at changing your plan, plan your food for the week and keep a food/feelings dairy. Relax and enjoy changing your life for the better.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi Isa

as the others are saying, maybe you need to find a new diet that suits you in your currant frame of mind. If you are stuggling to get started you will find it more difficult to stick with.

I have to say the diet I am on, Go Lower is working for me, but it took me long enough to find it with many years of trying other diets.

The advantages for me are the food is all supplied, breakfast, lunch and dinner and also the snacks which include chocolate! It is low carb so I can snack on chicken etc if I feel I need to and I don't need to exercise to lose weight.

On top of that I just had two weeks of the diet on holiday and didn't gain ANY weight at all.

I know there are many different diets out there but have a look at the website, GoLower.co.uk and see what you think.

I am sure you will find something to suit you and rememeber we are all here to help and support you with your journey.

I'd take a look at some of the diaries for the diet plans on here & see if there are any you realistically think you could stick to.

Also I'd write down what are the triggers which cause you to go off plan. This might help you when chosing another plan.

The main thing is you do want to lose weight & I'm sure once you find the right plan for you it will work.:D

Good luck & don't forget to let us know how you get on.:)

Some of the things I do:

Dont look necessarily at the bigger picture but make small achieveable goals which dont seem so daunting.

Come on here everyday to get motivation, advice and encouragement from others who are going through the same thing.

Give yourself rewards for reaching certain goals - a new dress, a massage, some shoes (always works for me!! hehe)

Make yourself realise that you're also doing it for good health also :-D

I hope that helps :) X

Hi Hannah

Jojo and Michelle have made a couple of good suggestions which may be worth thinking about.

I know it can be hard to get motivated to do this for you but another toption is to list all the reasons you want to lose weight and I am sure that will help you get back on track.

You know you can do this!
