SotW Goodies

So I was checking through the items in my SotW goody bag and it got me thinking about what you guys put in there.

Me this week I put in a tin of Pears in Natural Juice a low syn sweet treat which I was very pleased to be taking home again. Quite often I pop in a Packet of Pasta 'n' Sauce, but I would like to pop in some interesting/unusual treats for people.

I was very pleased with some of the weeks offerings like a packet of pasta, hifi bars, pasta 'n' sauce, can of diet coke and a totally syn free bottle of conditioner :D

However there were a couple of items, that I am sure were not meant to be as bad as they are. A 40 gram bag of dried fruit and seeds (11 syns) and a full fat packet of super noodles (7 syns). This may explain why some people don't lose weight when they think they have been 100% if they didn't know the syn values of these before they put them in the basket (that or they are sabotaging knowing full well what the points are :p)

So basically I was wondering what do you pop in the basket and what are the best/worst items you have received as SotW.

I got a bottle of balsamic salad dressing weeks ago. I keep taking it back every week as I will not use it, but I keep getting it back every week.
I had a grow your own red onion kit a few weeks ago. It has got everything you need in it, like pots and stuff. I haven't got round to doing it yet though.
xx

I think that some people put high syns things in there that they bought either by mistake or just had lying around in their cupboard and think of it as an easy way of getting rid of them. Personally I think that this is unfair as the basket is meant to be a reward, not an incentive to sabotage! One woman in my group even put in a full fact bottle of coke and when the C said how many syns were in it she said "yeah well I just put it in there because I knew I certainly won't be drinking it because of the syns!" I couldn't help thinking, this is meant to be a SLIMMING group. For the SOTW basket if you wouldn't eat it because of the high syn value, I really don't think you should put it in!

I reckon Options sachets would be welcomed! I like the above idea too, the grow your own kit - Wilkinsons sell these for less than £1 and they have rocket salad, various chillis, various tomatoes, etc.

Yanno I must hold my hands up and confess that I very rarely remember to take something to pop in the basket. But im going to make it my mission to start remembering to do this.
In our class basket we have seen the usual tbh
Fruit
Mughsots
Yoghurts
Jelly mixes
low fat salad dressing

My C is very strict about what goes into the SOTW basket, she only allows superfree. It HAS to be either fruit or veg, someone brought in a tin of beans and a spagetti bologanise pasta pot thing (free) and she said that wasn't what she wanted and she did not want people to bring that and she only wanted superfree.

Very Touchy!!

MIKADO!

Hmm doesn't that sort of defeat the object of it being a reward tho? I understand it helps the winner get superfree. But surely there are plenty free/low syn goodies that they could take home and try out. Don't think i'd like your C lol.

I think the basket is a great tool to introduce new things such as yoghurts and so on. Our C goes through the basket before she gives it to the winner and as a group we discuss its contents and syn values. A great educational tool in my eyes.

I work for Lush and I always take a bath bomb or some other lovely treat for the basket. I figured it'll be a nice way to take our minds off food but still feel indulgent and comforted. Plus everyone loves Lush! :D

Hrmm not sure I'd like it all superfree either, I mean I know what superfree is, but discovering new low syn/no syn treats is nice. What would she think about pampering products like a face mask?

I do like the idea of going through the syns of the basket before hand though, does sound like some of our members would find it useful :D

OH MY GOSH! I sooo wish I was in your group :D

we only put fruit in ours, she hasnt mentioned putting anything else in

We have been asked to bring in only fruit (aparently on head office guidelines!) The reasoning is that if you get low syn / free treats, pasta etc as well as fruit your prize is split up all over your kitchen and away in cupboards while a big bag of fruit will fill your fruit bowl and be more of a visual pat on the back for doing so well.

I did like it when you got other goodies too - the last time I got SotW I had only just done my shopping and stocked up on fruit so I ended up wih so much unfortunately some of it ended up going off.

You work in my favourite Lush (it's also my favourite town to shop in!)! I'm very jealous. I will work in Lush one day. Oh yes!

One of the best things i got was 4 grapefruits - I HATE them, but didn't know hubby loved them, to the point I now buy them as part of my weekly shop :D

Erm, I take fruit, jellies, tinned toms the usual boring things really!!

i have to say this has reminded me for tomorrow. someone put an avacado in the other week which i thought was a bit annoying as they are full of syns however if theres anything there shouldnt be the C usually tells the whole group if she thinks its been a genuine mistake so we all know that something has syns in (like the avacado case) without saying 'WHO THE HELL PUT THIS IN HERE?!' lol

I usually take fruit or a large red pepper, or some courgettes. If I have forgotten to get something like that, then I will take a couple of sachets of sugar-free jelly. I might take a yogurt if the weather is cold, but not if it is warm.

There is always someone who has forgotten to take anything at all, and they buy a pack of Hi-Fi bars and put one of those in.

Someone once brought a large bunch of daffodils, which everyone thought was great!

I hate it if I get baked beans, tinned tomatoes, mugshots, or anything in a packet, because I won't eat them. I either give them to my impoverished student relation, or I recycle them, putting them in the basket a few weeks later, and hoping that people won't notice! There was a tin of Tesco Value Tomatoes which turned up in the basket several times - the same tin!! (It had a tear in the label; that's how I recognised it.) Eventually someone must have kept it.

Ours consists of mainly fruit, but some of us put a variety of things in!! This week I put in a sachet of Dorset Cereals apple & raisin porridge which is a HEXb! Sometimes I'll chuck in a HIFI bar or Alpen Lights, some sugarfree jelly, a jar of some kind of herb or spice, a diet drink, a tin of tuna or salmon, or an unusual tropical fruit for someone to try like a dragon fruit or star fruit! I like the idea of putting something pampering in there too like HoneyOcs' bathbombs, so I may do that on Monday!X

I usually take fruit, tin of toms, beans, passata or a hex such as ryvita minis. I once won some full-fat dairylea in my SOTW basket...

I understand about asking for fruit etc, but to be honest, whenever I win fruit, it sits in my fruit bowl going manky, cos I already have a fridge full of the fruit I actually like and buy! (cos it's not as if you can rely on winning SOTW each week to keep your fruit stocks up!) :D
