Supermarket - rant!!

I made the mistake of going to the supermarket just before lunch!
Yes I know, never food shop when hungry!!
Anyway, I was being good, had written a list and was sticking to it, avoiding naughty aisles!!
But, why do supermarkets put lots of tempting bad yummy food everywhere?!!! Its not just a case of avoiding a few aisles! End of the fruit and veg = some yummy danish and bakery products!
And the lovely smell of baked products! Mmmmmm!!
You constantly hear in the press that we are in an obesity epidemic then the supermarket tries to tempt us with fattening food everywhere!! :( Shouldn't be allowed!
Anyway, I hesitated a couple of times but stuck to my list and enjoyed a healthy and syn free Tuna salad for lunch!!! :angel09:

i am a very weird person but when im being good i really helps me to smell/see bad food! when my friends drink wine i always have a big wiff of it, and when people have things like pie, or takeaway i like to see it and smell it, it kind of satisfys my cravings!

id of found your supermarket heaven! haha! sorry that doesn't help much does it?!

No it doesn't!!! :D
It just made me feel really hungry and tempted by bad stuff!!

haha! sorry! do your shopping online might help temptation? i've saved a fortune doing mine online!

It annoys me too!! What gets me is that they keep going on about how we need to be healthier and then they put fruit, veg and lean meat at ridiculous prices when you can go to the chippy and get chips and a sausage for £2!!!

The smell of the bakery make me feel ill in our local tesco but the other supermarkets its hard to avoid, and putting sweets on the end of each isle!! And knowing that you can have a bad meal bad in an instant but anything you know is good for you takes ages to prepare!!!

Grrr!! Im right there with you lol

I always do my Asda shopping online, so I only get what I order so it does help to stop an attack of the nibbles.....

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but supermarkets are there to make us spend as much money as possible. They don't really care if we are fat or thin (as long as we are not too fat to waddle round the aisles!).

Lean meat and vegetables are more expensive to produce than chips and sausages (who knows what goes into a chip-shop sausage?)

When you say that "they" want us to be healthier, but "they" charge high prices for healthy food - that's two different sets of people you are talking about, with two different sets of priorities.

This is how Tesco are well on their way to taking over the world!!! Very rich and powerful! Do they care about our waistlines? Do they hell!!! LOL!XXX

I hate when they move everything just to make you look harder at whats on the shelves.

Works the other way with me, I lose patience and walk out!

Supermarkets "pipe" the smell of bread inside and ouside to stimulate your appetite!

Yeh I have heard they pipe the bakery smells to the front of the store! So unfair!!
Was a kinda tongue in cheek rant because I know the supermarkets are there to make money!
Maybe the government should insist the supermarkets divided into 2 - 1 side with all the good health foods and a bad side with fattening bad foods!!!! :devilangel:

What I hate about supermarkets is that with the exception of a few bits of fruit or veg everything on a BOGOF or half price offer tends to be junk. Before SW I would have quite happily had a trolley full of it as it was a good cheap way to keep the freezer stocked, now I just get irate and huff a lot.

And then they "forget" to change the signs - we spent ages looking for cereal bars in Tesco the other day. Even the staff couldn't find them. They certainly were NOT under the large sign saying "cereal bars"!
