Hey

i've been eating more rice recently, i finding it very filling!

i had uncle bens mushroom rice today for 2 syns

and last night i had crosse and blackwell 5 minute rice (one was chinese, one was golden veg) and they were 0.5syns and 1.5syns

i just wondered if there were any that were syn free? or at least lower in syns? (0.5syns is fab!)

any ideas?

Have you tried the batchelors savoury rice packets?
Free on Green/EE - Beef, chicken, chinese, egg fried, garlic butter, thai sweet chilli, golden, mild curry, mild mexican, mushroom, pilau, sweet and sour, sweet BBQ chicken, tandoori.

OMG no i haven't?! EXCELLENT! i'm writing it down and will purchase! thank you!

defo recommend the mild curry flavour one.its gorgeous.even my kids love it!

excellent excellent excellent! thank you!

I would recommend making your own then you know exactly what has gone into it, can make it syn free and you don't get all the additives and preservatives. Plus it doesn't take any longer than using a packet flavoured rice.

i am RUBBISH with rice, how do i make it myself?

Aah! You need to get yourself a microwave rice cooker from Lakeland. Perfect rice every time - easy peasy! I wouldn't cook my rice any other way.

Check out BritMum's recipe for savoury rice, but you can really use any leftover veggies you happen to have. Or for a very quick lunch I use leftover rice with chopped peppers and sweetcorn (or even easier use a can of mexican sweetcorn), some kidney beans and some syn free salad dressing.
