tired

i'm sooo tired today. I haven't felt hungry bit just drained and sleepy. I also have a really sore throat... has anyone else had that? It probably isn't anything to do with the diet, might be coming down with something :(
I hardly slept last night or the night before either. I've gone round my mum's for a bit of TLC and a cuddle with my cat (he lives at her house for now until i find somewhere to live that's suitable) and treated myself to a french manicure kit. I think i will just need to get an early night and sleep off the blues. Not long til my weigh in day (Wednesday) and i hope it shows I've lost a decent amount.

In my 1st week on TS i felt exactly the same. A couple of early nights sorted me out. Just be kind to yourself and take it easy.

Well I feel much better now after a hot bath and a bit of a snooze - despite the fact that my family are now sat around me eating lasagne and garlic bread... I'm imagining the smell is the same as me eating it. Mmmmmm!

I had some of that, on and off, and just recently the faffing with the clocks tends to make me feel a bit crappy, too. I don't envy you their choice of dinner, either....

Lasagne and garlic bread???

It's 9pm!
Unless you are in another time zone. ;)

no, same time zone! They went to do the weekly shop and came back late!

[geek]

Bristol was originally in a different time zone (by about an hour) until they standardised time to allow the efficient timetabling of those new-fangled steam trains from London. S'true.

haha! That's actually a very interesting fact!

eating that late though... you can see where I get my eating habits from! And now they're going to have profiteroles!!!

Time used to be a local concept, which was perfectly fine in the days when people didn't travel too far, and that travel generally involved livestock. Owing to the widespread use of sundials, noon was wherever the sun was at it's highest wherever you happened to be. Which was perfectly fine until you travelled 100-or-so miles west, which is when the discrepancy became the most apparent. The railway companies individually adopted the recently calculated Greenwich Mean Time and created standardised timetables, and the rest of the country followed suit. But it was indeed the London/Bristol time difference that really brought the issue to the fore...

If you still have sleeping issues, a few concise paragraphs are here Les TempsPliers - Mania.com

Anyway, I'm going stop now. :)

mmmm profiteroles:eating:

How ironic... the rail companies were the main influence in the time standardisation but they can never get a train to run on time.

Haha!!

Well, I went to bed, got a much better night's sleep than I have had the past few days and now I feel fine.

Sitting through the lasagne and profiteroles (and Raymond Blanc making bread on the telly) was actually a good thing I think. Made me feel good to have resisted and reminded me that I'm making the right choices for a change!

Was wondering actually, what are all of your thoughts on that? Do you tend to shut out anything to do with food and avoid it completely, or expose yourself to it as normal in the safe knowledge that you will be good, even if tempted?

Good to hear you're feelin better, shuffler! :)

Since turning to Exante I've become a total food-tv addict. I think it's actually a common side-effect of VLCD's? I'm constantly looking up healthy recipes for when I'm done & I've always got the food channel on. :p I've also been cooking a lot for my bf (I smell the food instead of eating it & feel better for resisting it).. He thinks I'm turning into a feeder haha. I think it's because food is becoming less of an enemy now. :)

I cook every day for my 5 kids and husband so have no chance of avoiding it. However, other than feeling a bit miffed that I have to spend my precious time cooking something I'm not eating, I don't find it too much of a problem. I seem to have finally conquered the habit of picking as I cook which is great.

I've even found that I see things in the supermarket and think, ooh I'd love those, and go and buy it for the others and then resist it and feel really good about myself. This weekend they had a curry, then a bar of chocolate after and I loved the smells but felt great not indulging.

Off to polish my halo..............................

I try & avoid
have you noticed how that "come dine with me" is on about 4 sodding channels at tea time ;D

Although I have bought a food book
and just bought some bean sprouts, spring onions & half a cucumber
(this add a meal week WILL happen)
I put the red pepper back after the kind girl on the checkout pointed out it was £1.14

£1.14!!!

£1.14 - for a red pepper?!?!?!

Good lord! I'm genuinely shocked.

I think I'm going to research nice healthy recipes a-la Milux so when I start eating real food again I am prepared and can plan lots of nice healthy, weight maintaining meals!

Hi Shuffler - i'm on my first week this week and today i have a really sore throat and am very tired. I felt ok on day 4 but today (day 6) i feel pretty fed up. It's very up and and down this diet....
I'm sticking with it though

Interesting one. I live on my own most of the time, my OH turns up occasional weekends, until we get the permanent house sorted out. I timed this for a spell when I wouldn't see him for 2-3 weeks so I could settle in a bit. I kinda emptied the fridge and re-arranged the kitchen so I wouldn't have to open any of the cupboards, the spacefood is in a separate box.

First 10 days or so I had a real problem with food smells. It was nearly painful! Had to make a trip to tesco in the first week on a friday evening that was so intolerable, I didn't go out for the whole weekend. It kinda wore off after a while. Food smells still set of fireworks in my head, but I can live with it a bit better now.

Was never that bothered about cookery progs, and CDWM is more of a freak show than a cookery programme. Am actively *not* watching masterchef though - series started when things were still a bit 'raw', and don't like catching up with something part-way through. I'd also rather not torture myself, TBH.

Also, while not spending the evenings cooking or washing up, I'd rather try and use the time doing something non-food related, while I've got the opportunity.

Although I *did* buy two recipe books from The Bookman at the office. I think it was the pictures. Not opened them since, though.

If I lived on my own I think I probably would have cleared out all the food in my house, but I share, so knowing that wasn't an option I think I just accepted that I will have to be around food and drink a lot, and just have to put up with it. Hopefully it will just strengthen my resolve and lessen any sudden surprises!

The sore throat still hasn't gone, it feels like the early stages of tonsillitis, and I have a blocked up ear too. I think I might just be a bit ill, but apart from that I feel fine... Samh - interesting to see you have a sore throat too! Maybe it is to do with the diet?

Ah found you Miss D, how you doing?
Soooo anyway, hypothetical question, imagining something that you haven't actually experienced, well isn't that what imagination is, by definition ? Don't people imagine things, like, all the time. I am a writer so I know I do. Hogwarts, isn't real,[ I didn't write that by the way!] Star Trek enterprise, all just make believe, Spoks ears, fake !
It's interesting that you say "self help" CD's weight loss groups etc have suggested the "imagine yourself thin" thing. I wonder why they do ? I wonder why you really think you can't I can't imagine[ if you pardon the pun] you with your enormous brain and tenacity don't have any imagination.[ all humans do] Maybe a part of you just doesn't want to imagine it, maybe you think it is in conflict with your belief that people should enjoy life, respect themselves and be respected by others regardless of their BMI.[ am on board with that 100%] It's kind of like being disloyal to yourself. It's one of those mind games we play with ourselves. I play loads, it can be quite unhelpful, like not letting go when I believe someone has wronged me, being one of them !![ yikes] So, I know you aren't a hocus pocus kind of girl but I've done a couple of these mind changing tricks on quite deep seated beliefs and found them suprisingly helpful. I think if you are a bit of an intellectually minded lady we can tend to try and over rationalise things a bit [ if that's possible] So I'm just saying it could really be worth trying to let go and give it another bash. I know you're not keen and I don't want to irritate you, but it could really help long term. I'm talking as a sceptical convert. You are what you think, as they say. Good luck fabulous lady, you're doing great anyway.
