Easter - whats everyone doing?

Easter is my FAV time of the year, no presents to buy for anyone, 4 days away from work, easter egg choc (my total FAV) & lovely hot cross buns.........

BUT, this year I am intending to IGNORE Easter as its too dangerous a time for me and it would be like opening Pandora's box so I think the best thing is to look forward to celebrating it next year!:nono::bunnydance:

Whats everyone else doing?

I apparently have my niece over from Bradford
so will be cooking for both OH and her
ah well
so much for my Easter break

I'm ignoring it too! Half my family don't celebrate easter (I certainly dont either, but I often get choc eggs anyway lol) so it's not too hard to just forget about it. However my boyfriend always gets bombarded with tonnes of choc eggs.. unecessary temptation! >:

My family usually just make a point of meeting up and having dinner and lots of tasty food... they aren't about this Easter though, so I won't have to do that, but going 'out for a meal' with my boyfriend's parents on Easter Monday. I'm determined not to go off track though, I will have a bar while I'm there and drink black coffee or sparkling water. A couple of weeks after that it's my birthday too, and I'm planning on sticking 100% to the diet then too :(

My daughter who is 5 will probably get loads of eggs, however 2 yrs ago when I did WW I got through Easter no probs without any choc passing my lips. My Dad is meant to be having a BBQ for his bday but we will c what the weather holds. Not sure what I am going to do for that though!

I have so many things coming up, there's about a million people's birthdays in April and May - it's going to be so hard! All my friends will be eating and drinking and being merry... I will just have to try my best to join in I suppose without caving in!

We don't do anything special for Easter (except get a lie in since no-one has a footie match next Sunday). Having said that, I have 5 kids so am expecting loads of Easter Eggs around the place. Not too worried about that though as I encourage them to hide eggs anyway, to keep them out of DHs way. He's a slim chocoholic!

I must be lucky that my OH is not that fussed about chocolate
I have even declined a cadburys cream egg from my Boss

I have that anniversary meal this thursday, which I have asked for advice on here earlier
I have checked the menu, and the veggie option is either risotto or pasta ! But also vegetables on the table, so I will have to be careful
I think I will accept a glass of wine graciously(don't want to draw attention, as that seems to be a major issue!!!) but not drink it, order a bottle of fizzy water

whaddya think?
Good plan?
May have a problem hiding the main part of the main, as Phil isn't keen on either !
God, I sound so ungrateful, and I don't mean to, I wish the coupl all the very best!

I would refuse the wine Maggie, can't you say you are driving or something?

You are about ready for an add-a-meal week now aren't you? Maybe you could incorporate the meal into that, just have a plate of veg or something?

We are hoping for nice weather cos we want to take the bikes down to Cornwall for the weekend. If we do I'm intending to stick to the diet, shouldn't be too hard. If the OH wants to eat out one or two of the nights I might join him though if I can have a chicken/fish/salad type of meal somewhere. Will take it as it comes, whichever way it goes I'm confident that one or two meals of sensible choices won't lead me to abandon all control.

Need to go buy some eggs for the grandchildren but that's not going to be a problem I don't think.

I know that instead of getting me eggs my family have bought me little treats like lip gloss and earrings!

You guys are sooo good and positive about Easter. I'm having a total breakdown about it. I have a huge family meal to go to on Easter Sunday. My mum will be so upsest with me if i don't eat any of the food she has spend days preparing. I have no idea what to do eeek
I wish i could ignore it like you Red77!

Discuss with her what you are doing, you could stretch the truth a little if she freaks about how little you eat
explain the ketosis thing, and that eating loads of carbs will put you back a week
how about "doing" an atkins & eating only meat/chicken & low carb veggies?
but for goodness sake don't drink :(

I sat through a big family meal only having a pink soup as they ate my favourite lasagne, and cake :( that I spent ages cooking !

but then we are all strong willed & I think they respected my decision

It's my 20th wedding anniversary tomorrow!! I can't believe I've put up with him that long - lol!!

We weren't going to celebrate by going out for dinner because of my diet, but also because we are off to Florida for a family holiday on Friday. But hey, you have to celebrate 20 years of marriage - don't you??

So we have decided to go out and I thought it would be good for me to eat something to ease myself back into food before we go. I won't eat much because I've found I can't anyway. The smallest of portions makes me feel sooo bloated. But it will be fun to go out and see how I get on. Good times!!

Good idea - will that work and keep me in Ketosis? I might be able to do that. And just have no desert. Do i still need to eat my packs though?

Is drinking really bad on this diet?

I've not told them i'm doing a full meal replacement thing. I've just told them i'm healthy eating. They are sick of me doing fad diets and i can't be doing with listening to them go on and on about it for the duration on dinner (all 8 of them) Eeek

They are sick of your diets????? why???? how does it affect them???? Aren't families supposed to be respectful and supportive to one another. Sounds like they have forgotten this a bit. I would opt to be a little more assertive about it as it can be quite damaging to have so little support. It's your body and you should be allowed to have complete choice about what you put into it. I would speak to your Mum in advance so she knows not to cook for you and so doesn't feel like she's wasted her time, which is fair enough. I think they will probably respect you more for sticking to it and seeing it through to your goal rather than just giving it up because you are too intimidated to tell them about it. Don't let other people stop you achieving your goals and what you want. You not eating won't really affect them, eating will affect you.
Stick to it, maybe they are the reason you have done fad diets and not stuck to them before, actually I can't blame them, just like I can't blame anyone else for my weight gains, it's all down to us and how we choose to respond to situations, don't make them an excuse to go off your plan. You have a reason for your plan and will feel fabulous when you achieve it. Have fun with your family, take lots of photos, take your Mum flowers and have a laugh. It's all about sooo much more than food.

Its true TT, it is so much more about food, but people (like Miss D said to me a while back) don't like a change to the status quo
or they worry (unnecessarily)
or they think you are not eating her food becasue you don't like it etc
a myriad of reasons
what can you do with other peoples hang ups?
I have enough of my own without fathoming other peoples too :D

Sam-drinking whilst in Ketosis can apparently make you quite ill, its really not worth it

Be Strong ! ;D

If I don't see you on here before you go, have a great holiday & anniversary :)

Well I am out with work on Thursday night but I'm gonna skip the meal and meet them for drinks, I'll be driving so I can stick to water.
I have to go into the office on Easter Monday (boo!) so I feel I have to do something at the weekend so I can say I did have an Easter Break! I am planning 1 meal out (somewhere of my choosing so I can avoid the carbs) and I have 1 small easter egg which I will get the OH to ration for me! Also stocked up my chocolate shakes for the weekend so if I can resist the egg I'll have those instead!
If we do have to do the family rounds then I'll try and walk to those that are within a mile radious - weather permitting!

Easter's cancelled at Chateau Demeanour.

We had posh choc last weekend as part of general celebrations, the OH has been informed that I've got an over 4 week clear run to a mate's wedding do and I need to get back on the wagon consistently for that time. With recent events, I've been a bit slack about weekends off, but there are no excuses now.

I believe we're getting an easter egg from work, which shall be shoved in the back of the cupboard out of sight until some future date. (Edit - come to think of it - it may well be given away.)

So in the meantime, the OH shall be fed (note to self - I need to shop), I shall be on spacefood, and we shall be out and about, and sleepin', and trying to have a chilled weekend before the madness starts again. :)

big family roast dinner at my mothers and my 3 kids surrounded by eggs. its going to be hell but, luckily, it'll be just before my first weigh-in so I am counting on my resolve being fine.
