tips for success

Hello all, I went to SW last year and followed EE. My weightloss was poor even though I felt I was following thw plan 100%. I gave up and went to WW but couldn't get into that and am thinking of oming back to SW. Can anyone please give me tips or advice on how I can make it work this time

My top tips are:

1. Plan. Plan, plan, plan! I do a weekly meal planner, for breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Doing this means I can make sure I have a variety of different foods and meals throughout the week so I know I won't get bored. If I didn't do this, it would mean I would more than likely have jacket potatoes and beans on toast a LOT! It also means I can make a list of what to shop for and not buy stuff I won't end up using.

2. If you like choc, wine, treats etc, then make your meals as syn-free as possible to save your syns for these. If you aren't bothered about treats, use your syns in your cooking for oil, butter, etc.

3. Take photos so you can see your progress. I've just put mine together to show my weightloss journey and am flabbergasted at the change! A great incentive.

4. Experiment with recipes. I really enjoy cooking now and try lots of different SW recipes from the magazine and website as well as the books. All the family are enjoying trying the results! We don't have the same meals week in, week out and it keeps me interested in the plan.

I'm sure there will be loads more suggestions, but these are the main things that have helped me along. Those and a huge dose of willpower!:D

fabulous advice there :)

i would also, if you are doing ee, really try and fill your plate a third with veg. although this seems to be 'recommended' rather than necessary (and i'm only in my second week so can't comment out of experience) i have read an awful lot on here that that REALLY helps boost the EE weight losses.

good luck hon :)

Fill in a food diary on here and make sure you read and re read your books.

Its quite eay to get a bit mixed up when you are starting out fresh so become best friends with all the plan info.

This is the easiest plan I have followed and I have done them all believe me :D:D

good luck if you decide to come back

  • Fill your plate with 1/3 superfree foods
  • Eat only when hungry, and not for the sake of it
  • Eat until satisfied and not stuffed
  • Measure all your Hexs
  • Ensure you count all your syns
  • Although free, and you can eat as much as you like some people don't lose as much when they eat a lot of fruit and fat free yogurt, so keep an eye on those and if you don't lose what you think you should, cut back
You say that you did not lose much on SW last time. What did you lose?
1 - 2 pounds a week is a healthy weight loss though some people lose more, so don't make your expectations too high or you could be disappointed.

SW does work if you stick to the plan.
Good luck!

It has been said before, but worth saying again - read the book!! As often as it takes to get things into your head.

And then write down everything you eat. Use the food diary sheets you will get when you join, or make up your own, but get into the habit of writing it all down. Then you won't have that awful realisation at the end of the day that you have actually had three B choices instead of one(yes, I am talking about myself here!))

hiya im also eith slimming world i follow the green plan because that works best for me

i have friends who try extra easy and loose nothing my leader says it just doesnt agree with some people

have you tried a diffrent plan

i prefer sw to ww because you can eat so much more on ww i was always hungry

I was going to say maybe think of trying some red or green days to see if that plan works better.

Some great advice there though - especially the meal planning, worked for me at the start :)

My first week on EE I found I ate for the sake of it .......... so much free food I was permanently stuffed! But I only lost 2lbs. For me, with a lot to lose, 2lbs in the first week of a diet is pants. After that I've tried to eat really only when I am truly hungry. I don't eat in the evening at all (except for fruit) and it's paying off - in the past three weeks I've lost 9lbs :D
