Cheat Recipes

Hi All

I don't know about you, but sometimes I just

a: don't have the time to make some of the delicious recipes from the slimming world magazine and books

b: don't have the ingrediants to hand

I thought I would start a thread on "Cheat Recipes", ie recipes using packets & jars for quickness along with syn values.

Hi there, have you ever tried passata? its lovely you can add herbs and garlic and best of all its FREE!! the ragu and dolmio are lovely too but very high in sins. your Bolognaise reciepe sounds yummy!

This version of Irish Stew is quick to make, but it needs 2 hours to cook. But once it is in the pan you can go away and do something else.

i packet Waitrose Irish Stew mix - this has potato, onion, carrot, leek, barley and thyme
Lean stewing lamb (I get about six small pieces from the meat counter)
600 ml boiling water

Trim any fat off the lamb and cut into smallish pieces. Put into a saucepan with the Irish Stew mix and the boiling water. Season. Bring to the boil and simmer for 2 hours. You might need to add a bit more boiling water if it gets too dry.

You can also do this in a slow cooker, with slightly less water, for about 6-7 hours.

This gives me two huge meals and is free on Extra Easy.
