I'm not sure if I read it suggested on here, or somewhere else, but I've just made/done/tried roasted beetroot for the first time, and it is absolutley AMAZING.

I thought it was nicest when it was just above room temp, and also nice cold.

I agree. I love beetroot in any shape or form!

I used to like beetroot as a child, but since I gave up smoking 4 years ago (no I didn't smoke as a child, lol) it just tastes earthy/muddy and far too sweet... shame really coz I loved it before!

...I'm hoping for pink pee tomorrow. I AM very easily amused! lol

Did you see the Raymond Blanc programme on BBC2 last night? He was cooking beetroot that he grows in his garden at his hotel. He had yellow, pale red, and dark red ones.

They really looked lovely - made me wish I liked beetroot!

You can watch the programme on IPlayer:
BBC - BBC Two Programmes - Raymond Blanc's Kitchen Secrets
- although some of his recipes are a bit complex for home cooking, there are some good ideas in there, and he is such fun to watch!

I have been having terrible cravings for beetroot lately and so have been having some every day, I didnt realise it was a speed food lol I did find out its really high in lots of vitamins so just assumed that because of my Star week from hell (I've had to go on hormone tablets to stop it, its been that bad) that i must be low in things. I had a good loss, this week as well, wonder if its connected...

is any kind of beetroot speed food or just the uncooked?

I never liked beetroot until I grew it! I don't like it pickled but love it grated raw in a salad and roasted with balsamic vinegar.
Roasted beetroot and goats cheese salad is divine.
I grew some golden beetroot last year and it was a more mellow flavour than the red but still nice. I'm definitely growing it again this year.
