I-phone, I pod touch or Nokia X6?

Meike

..crawling after ze wagon
Hi peeps,
am about to upgrade my mobile phone contract and at the moment my provider (3) doesn't have the Iphone on offer but as alternative has the Nokio X6 on a £25 contract with unlimited min/txt and internet and: am a big Nokia fan, have to admit that :D
The alternative would be to cancel my contract with 3 and go with someone like O2, Orange or Vodafone to get the Iphone, but only with really high monthly contracts - and I normally wouldn't use my phone as such that much.. Am currently on a 500min/txt for £18 per month and never use them all..
So was wondering if anyone can advice on anything - am fairly tempted by the Nokia X6 but don't know anyone who actually has it and can give a proper review..
Many thanks
Meike

iPhone Loyal here! :D

Best phone I've ever had tbh. I took out a new contract when Orange got the iPhone and am currently paying my other contract too. I bought out the wife's contract as she wanted to keep her existing number (I wasn't that bothered).

iPhone is the way to go Meike!

What do you want the phone to do? Depending on what you want you phone to do should determine which phone you should get.

I got my phone last year (HTC Magic) because the Iphone wasn't out on Vodafone at the time. I have seen and used many Iphones and to be honest wasn't that fussed. I got my phone for apps, not for music or for camera

hmm, mainly I want to use it as phone and as mobile internet, have a normal ipod for music (and will prob keep that anyway). Have a DSLR at home so don't use my phone much for pics either. Not sure about apps as I (a) don't know what apps there are, (b) which ones I'd use and (c) what the Nokia X6 has.
What really annoys me with the Iphone is the higher monthly contract, wouldn't mind paying more for the phone as a one-off but don't like the thought of having to pay £35/45 per month with a huuuuge contract as I wouldn't use it that much as phone per se.. So am not sure if the apps and 'having an Iphone' really is worth these extra costs or if I would be just as happy with the Nokia.. *sighs*

I can recommend the iphone I absolutely love mine and I surf the internet quite a bit with it. You can also get itracker and ipoints (if you are following weightwatchers) apps and I believe that Weightwatchers are looking into releasing an app where you can have the whole programme on your phone (don't know about timings as yet) - its just a brilliant phone you won't regret getting it. The only negative is the battery life I only get 1 day out of mine but I have a charger at work and in my bedroom so its not normally a problem for me.

im a blackberry loyal fan here! can't stand the iPhone, its gimmicky and mine just wouldnt do what i bloody well wanted it to! and definitely not worth the contract costs! im on £20 a month, unlimited texts, calls and internet and push email and will never ever switch from bb again!

Ironically I switched from a Blackberry to the iPhone. It's all down to persoanla preference though. One man's meat is another man's poison springs to mind :)

yeah defo, depends on what bb you have as well as some are rubbish.

Many thanks for your answers, really appreciate your opinions!

BB is out of the question, wouldn't use the qwert-keyboard and hardly get any emails to my private address anyway :(

I am doing WW but don't like the online foodtracker, think I can't be bothered to set it up properly, use the paper ones atm :) what else is the diff between ipod touch and iphone (apart from the phone/contract bit?)

Battery life could be a problem then, am a sucker for recharging my phone, guess it would always be flat whenever I need it then..

Would a ipod touch be a good alternative? I could stick with my current phone/contract and just get an ipod touch for the internet and apps?

Guess no-one here has the Nokia X6 then?

whoops my mistake it wasnt the x6... similar but not the x6.

lol i just think iphone is a bit too "child like" its a craze for teens etc but when it comes down to actually working it fails, i like the reliability of the bb, purely for the fact that bb has been around for aggges where as iphone hasnt.

*no offense to your iphone meant there*

sorry i had a nokia at the same time i got my bb, it was the one before the x6

No offence taken ;)

Where does the iPhone fail in your opinion?

Touch screen being the major thing, its not, in my opinion sensitive enough and theres a delay when pressing the letter keys. and it seemed to kind of "stick" when i tried to get onto the apps. it does how ever have some really big plus sides like "doctorcalc" app, and more apps aimed at the professionals that are in science/medical where as bb caters mainly for the professions of the business world.
Soooo when i am a doctor i maaaaaaaaaaaaaay switch to the iphone providing they have ironed out the teething problems they've had this early on in its development.

I am a massive Apple fan. However I find the iphone a little to much. Mobile companies are cashing in on it by only making it available on stupid contracts or by paying massive amounts for it.

Touch phones do the same thing. Apps are available for all phones now, its just what you want to pay for them. If you are not using it for music/camera or apps then go into a store that has all the phones available and ask them to try it out. Its what I done when choosing between the Samsung Jet and HTC magic. You get to have a play around, see how responsive it is and make a better decision

IPHONE ALL THE WAY, I ABSOLUTELY LOVEEEEEEEE MINE AND DONT ACTUALLY NO WHAT ON EARTH I WOULD DO WITHOUT IT, !!!!!!! THERE TOTALLY AMAZING ... SO I SAY DITCH 3 (your decision of course ;) ) AND GO WITH ORANGE, VODAFONE OR 02 WITH THE IPHONE .....

Another iPhone fan here. Had mine for a year now and will never go to any other phone - it does EVERYTHING (well except clean the house and make the dinner, although I'm hopeful that in the future there's an app for that ;)).

Thinking about upgrading to a 3GS but heard rumours of the next version coming out in the summer so I'm holding off.
