I have ahad a lady approach me whose siser has done cd and done very well. This new lady i her late 40s is following a healthy diet of an average of 1500cals but would like to use cd fr nutritional extras on her diet. She has been told by her dr that he has diabetes type 2 but ist onds for this and was told weight oss wulcd products and would like to include them in her diet for nutrition, maybe one or 2 per day. Would she stillneed drs signature for this?If she was my client already and had got to target it wouldnt be a problem for nutrition values but i wasnt sure how things stood for this.
She has mentioned that her dr is anti vlcds as when her sister started the diet he pooh poohed it. Luckily her sister didnt need a drs signature but because of the diabetes
wat would you do? All advice greatfully apreciated. Please remember she only wants to use them for nutritin with a healthy diet not for below minimum of 1500.

Thanks in advance

Erm - I think it's ok as it's not below 1200 cals, hun.

I'm sure someone more on the ball than me will come along soonish - I'll bump this up for you.

Hi Lynjo,

As your client is a diabetic you cannot supply with any CD packs, even for nutrition, without a GP's signature.

Even if the GP is anti VLCD's she is not asking to go on a VLCD just use some packs for nutrition. This you can build into your doctors letter, you are only asking for him to confirm the information she is supplying you is correct.

At present it also depends which medication she is on as some are contraindicated.

The protocols around diabetes are changing completely and soon we will be able to help Type I diabetics as well as Type II.

The rules however will not change around if GP does not sign - no programme at all is allowed.
