Hi again

trying to do this right this time (second time around) - having fallen off the wagon last year due to poor will power/ life event/ overdosing on oriental chilli... basically poor will power!

Now. I just joined a gym and I just started SS. enjoy both cardio and weights at the gym. heard mixed reports about whether one should exercise or not. what's the latest, anyone know? and in what proportions?

i.e. cardio vs weights?
Have about 5 stone to lose.

Well i know that it is beneficial to do light resistance wor to keep up yr muscle tone but i know that u shouldnt do excessive cardio as yr body will end up burning muscle mass, which will make it seem like u have lost more weight, but it wont b the weight u want, ie fat! If u decrease yr muscle mass then yr metabolism will drop, maing it harder to shift the weight, so u dont want to do that! I think time, difficulty etc depends on the person and yr fitness levels to begin with - so maybe 20mins on the cross trainer followed by a few sets of reps on the resistance weight machines would b fine for me, but then how hard u work depends on what u can do, if that makes sense! Dont push yrself too hard, b out of breath but to the point u could sort of hold a conversation, not to the point where u can hardly breath, let alone talk! But this diet makes u lose fat, so the main thing i would focus on is muscle tone, resistance machines etc.
Hope this helps!

I went to the gym whilst on sole source.I did an hour of cardio stuff and was so ravenous I would have eaten my own leg if I could.....bollox!!!!....I would have lost weight if I had..I'd be a bit lopsided...but lighter. Seriously I found gentler excercise like walking or swimming a lot less stressful. I was seriously hungry after leaving the gym and ended up having to eat.

Very good points, especially big Al - If you ever want to re-visit the whole leg chewing off thing let me know - I do that sort of thing for a living - in an operating theatre - not a gym - and might make a neater job of it!. I'll stick to the weights maybe -

feel really sleepy after weights - anyone else not sleeping well on this diet?

I either sleep really well or really bad at the moment, no in between, although I have to say that the getting up for the loo in the middle of the nite has now stopped (thank God!!) well mostly!

I still have to get up during the night.I blame the 4-5 litres of fluid I drink each day....Dragondrawers reckons I've got a dodgy prostate.....but she has PMS 52 weeks a year:wave_cry: :wave_cry: :wave_cry: :wave_cry: :wave_cry:
