Thinking of moving to Atkins from CD

Hi all, just discovered this forum.

I am doing CD (week 10) and have lose 22lbs so far. Am one stone from goal and am starting to struggle with it all. Have had days off on every sat so not done 100% CD but still loved it.

Has anyone here gone from CD to Atkins without gaining. I know for a fact that my body absorbs carbs like spomge does water so I need to really cut carbs to maintain my losses.

How do I do it? wean myself off CD slowly or just go for it and do atkins? Oh, i know this post is waffly but any help would be appreciated!

Hi Leeds and welcome, we have a load on here who have come over from the dark side. I'll let them answer your post.

:D

Hello :) well done on your fantastic weight loss so far. I cant advise as havent done CD I need proper food LOL x

Hi Leeds,

I donr CD for 5 months and done really well (4 stone) but struggled and came off it and put back on 2.5 stone. IF i would have changed from CD to atkins i would probably be at goal by now!
As you are already in ketosis, the move will be easy. I would just watch portion sizes and not go mad and you will be at goal in no time at all! go for it!

Yes July, good advice. Since a VLCD gets you in ketosis the changeover can be quick and even painless lol. Just add food gradually at first. CD is roughly 60 carbs a day I think, whereas Atkins Induction is 20. However you have only a stone to lose so read the stickies at the top of the page and perhaps start on OWL (ongoing weight loss).

Check out the Atkins Community site, official, has tons of advice and learning materials. Welcome, and good luck!

I lost 4.5 stones on CD and have applied Atkins principles when coming up the steps. As you are only a stone away from goal, you would need to start introducing food through the CD plans anyway - the temptation of diving straight into Atkins 'unlimited foods' however might cause a wobble so it may be an idea to apply the CD principles but start bringing in low-carb foods - lean meats, leafy veg etc, rather than the higher fat stuff. I think your idea to 'wean off' is a good one, rather than jumping totally.

'Dark side'.....Jim :giggle:

thanks everyone. will move up the plans at some stage on CD then plan to atkins it all the way to goal and to use atkins to maintain. have been reading this forum and you all seem so friendly!

It's friendly 'cos I'm here to keep them all in line. :D

well, not too naughty ;)

There are lots who have moved from a VLCD to Atkins.

Any alternative weightloss method have the same pitfalls - temptation. I personally can't do a VLCD as it makes me ill - tried 4 times now - and it's a struggle to lose weight any other way as you have to deal with the head stuff around food.

BUT Atkins is a great way to lose weight, faster than other conventional methods and you work on the head stuff at the same time.

Good luck!

LOL Linz, that always makes me laugh. :)
