Hi everyone!

My name is Jennie I'm 22 and currently a trainee primary school teacher. I haven't dieted for 5 years and am the heaviest I have ever been at 15stn. I have recently accepted that I have an unhealthy mental relationship with food and seriously need to do something about it. I am obese and I am loosing weight for this precise reason. I want to feel happier about my weight, be a healthier person and most of all be a good role model for the children I will be teaching in the near future.

I live with my partner who refuses to eat low fat products such as margarine and isn't much support at all. My life is currently incredibly busy with coursework, teaching all day and trying to keep on top of the housework and I am hoping this will help me keep my mind off food!

Most of my friends are stick thin and don't have a clue what it is like to be overweight or have to go on a diet. I know I can do this but also know that we all need support to reach our goals.

I have joined this forum in the hope that I will meet some wonderful and inspiring people who I can support and receive support in return.

Good luck to all of you in your weight loss journeys!

Welcome Jennie,

You will find all the support and inspiration that you could ever wish for and more here. And the good part is that everyone speaks from their own experience. Whatever part of the journey you are on, you will know that there are some already past your rung on the ladder and some to come in the future so not only will you be supported but you will support too!

well done.
What a decision and i wish you all the best.
Is there anything you can do to ask your partner to help you out on this- perhaps explain to that person how important it is for you and how their input could help?
Your reasons are fantastic, to want to be a positive role model for the kids you wil teach shows what a good person you are.
Please remember while approaching a new relationship with food to mind yourself, take care of your own needs, and find ways to treat yourself and your own happiness.

I completely understand the friends things- my 2 best friends are gorgeous blond DIETITIANS!!!! I'm slowly starting to explain what my real relationship with food is, and while i know they dont quite understand, i know they want to be there.
Its one step at a time. there will be good days adn not so good days. the importaat thing is to not give up.
Take care.

I gave myself a pep talk about where i thought i went wrong with the plan last time and this times things are different! i want to set my self managable goals and take as long as i need to get there!!

I look forward to all the support this place to offer and i hope i too can be a part of that support!

P.s have lost 5 and a half pounds on the plan so far!

Hi Jennie, nice post. You are doing really well to decide to do something at a relatively young age. Just think of all the people who carry that weight around for years (if not decades) and when they finally lose it they wish they'd done it years ago. Good luck - I'll be rooting for you.
