Water, water everywhere!

Just thought I'd post this today. I cannot promote water drinking enough right now! Before I started my new lifestyle, yes all those 53lbs ago, I would never ever have considered drinking water, not even if you paid me! At that time, the missus was buying 5 litre bottles of spring water like it was going out of fashion and I just wasn't interested.

But.... since I started WW and eating more healthily, I have made a point of drinking at least 2 litres of water every work day at least (we have spring water on tap at work). When I was off work recently for nearly two weeks with virtually no water consumption, that is when I had my first gain and also a STS. I hadn't changed anything else, only my water intake!

I have made it part of my regime every day now, including weekends, and have actually started enjoying it. I try to spread it out over the day and you don't really realise that you are drinking it half the time. I also have an app for my iphone where I can count the glasses as I drink them, which helps.

Anyhow, just thought I'd post my thoughts, just for a change :D

Well done on your amazing 53lbs gone :D
Yes water is the key to it and sadly I need a kick up my water butt :( How long did it tak you to get a stronger bladder  lol just thats why I give it a miss, you have sprred me on after seeing the period you didnt drink it you didnt lose Thanks :Dx

For the first couple of weeks I was running to the loo every 10 minutes from what I can remember, but it has evened itself out now. I still lose the water but more in a 'less frequency, more quantity" kind of way :D

You're so right about water! Im awful when it comes to water intake so I've literally been living on the little bottles of tesco lemon and lime carbonated water, it tastes the EXACT same as 7up and theres only 3kcal per bottle and its a nice refreshing change from guzzling regular water all day :)

Im terrible on the water intake...but i really do think that its going to help me in the last few pounds soon...so from yesterday ive started 2 liters a day it wasnt too bad tbh. Hmmm maybe i should add it to my other lent thing..no chocolate? and extra water, that should defo give me results :D

Another reason is ive started not to trust diet coke :p...even tho its zero points n what not, there defoo has to be some sort of effect on WI with it.

Yep caffine dehydrates our bodies........:(
Im the same as you
Ive put a thread up a water challenge join me??xx

Great advice Gerry, I don't drink nearly enough of anything let alone water. A teensy bit of squash in it would be ok wouldn't it? Tap water in the SE of England tastes positively vile! If it's having such a good impact on your weightloss I'm willing to give it a whirl I reckon!

Good girl DA! From what I'm reading you can consume copious amounts of voddie when you want to! ;)

Not sure about the squash, you'd have to point it.

I'm the same, i add a tiny bit of squash to add to flavor and it's only about 3cals per serving or something like that on most no added sugar squashes :) also flavoured water is the same about 10cals for whole bottle and helps to get by the actual taste of water lol :)

I am so lucky as I said, we have Ballygowan spring water available here in the office. I definitely couldn't drink normal tap water in any amount. I sympathise with anyone who has to do that and can understand the reluctance to drink it on it's own. A taste of squash should make it easier, so go for it!

Hahaha - not sure voddie will have quite the same impact on my weight loss! I wish! :D
I always have no added sugar squish, I don't usually point it because it seems a bit daft but maybe I should.

I have been trying to give up diet coke for a long time now but never lasted. It's my only vice really (if you don't include food :p) as I don't smoke and I don't drink alcohol very often. Don't go out much and rarely drink it at home, unless it's a nice sunny day.. pimms or cider :D

Anyway, without even meaning to I've drastically cut down on my diet coke recently. It is bloody expensive and it doesn't really taste that nice, I think it's just the addiction. I'll still enjoy a nice cold glass bottle of coke every now and then on a nice day, but otherwise I'm cured! Since then I've been drinking a lot of water. South east water does taste like crap, when I first moved down from the shire I couldn't drink it but I've got used to it now. I've had 2 pints already and have just been inspired to grab a 3rd :)

Robinsons sugar free squash is lovely and its free, I can drink litres of it no problem but just cant stomach water on its own at all

i drink about 3-4 litres although been bad the past few days due to working too much. i usually put some sugar free squash in it too not because i dont like water but just coz i like orange :) run out and havent been shopping though so regular water it is!

oooooo:confused: is sugar free squash pointed? I thought it was free like sugar free jelly and some veg HELP??xx

mainly no! You would have to have an awful lot of it to have to point it :) mainly it's something like 3cals per 100ml? or something which is about enough (maybe too much, i'm hopeless with measures! :D) to include with a pint of water?

I have to agree, water is the best dieting supplement you can buy :D and I get lovely skin and feel less tired, less confused.. :D def recommend drinking loads of water anyway - irrespective of dieting or not, but expecially when your on a diet! And it helps keep hunger at bay :D

Well, having said that, I don't think it is recommended to drink more than 2-3 Liters a day (unless you're doing lots o exercise though) because that might lead to a lack of minerals in your body, so don't go too extreme..

:D Robinson's sugarfree squash has around 8 cal per 100m of concentrate - so if you're drinking a liter of the concentrate, you might want to count it as 1 point - but I want to see you drinking THAT much water per day!! :D Guess I wouldnt see much of you apart from running past me towards the loo every 5 minutes :D

Love their Orange & Mango one - but I have waaaay less in my water than their recommended 1part squash to 4 parts water - mine is more like 1:8 if not higher..

you wont start losing minerals u literally have to drink 4 or 5 gallons to start diluting your blood and reducing mineral levels. you'll just pee more diluted wee when drinking around 3-4 litres of water a day

if you're drinking water for hydration purposes the best way to keep hydrated is not just from water its from a litre of water with six level teaspoons of salt and some squash to cover the taste of the salt, this is about the same osmorality as your blood and thus ur blood absorbs more and you're rehydrated better.
