I would say no, i went and they refused to take the blood, sorry. I guess when you think about it, it does make sense.

my cdc just emailed me sayin u gotta do the 1200 plan for at least a week to donate - will move up to that in a few weeks to do it then back to ss i think!!

Hi Claire

I was told I couldn`t donate whilst on vlcd (ss or ss +), but did donate once I was on the 1000 plan.

The blood donor call centre called to ask if I would be donating last month and I explained about being on CD.

They transferred me to a doctor who knew all about CD, and she said as long as I had one of my packs/bar/meal and half a litre of water just before donating, I`d be fine.

I did all this and was absolutely fine, but as I say, the advice I was given was 1000 calories.

14. Can those taking the Cambridge Diet sole source donate blood?
The matter at issue here is whether the extra iron and protein lost in the donation of under one pint of blood is significant whilst using the Cambridge Diet sole source.
Calculations demonstrate that these losses would be compensated for over the next week or so. Hence, in an emergency (i.e. if dieter has a rare blood group which is required urgently) a donation may be given.
On the other hand it seems sensible not to increase the losses over this period unless it is an emergency and our advice is: do not give a routine blood donation while using the Cambridge Diet sole source.
