Help :(

I've just been looking into WW and was told to try Slimming World instead. I really don't want to go to meetings but when I checked it out I noticed the online fee is £60 for 3 months which seems very expensive to me, is there a way I can do Slimming World at home cheaper? Thanks in advance :)

Hiya!

I didn't know Slimming World offered an at home course!

Is there any reason why you prefer this to going to meetings? They'd work out cheaper in the long run?

I'm sorry, I don't know any cheaper alternatives. Hope someone else is more helpful than me! Good luck with it though :)

You're in the right place! A lot of peeps on here don't go to class (I do though!) nor use Body Optimise and use this fabulous forum for support! If you're going to do SW (and why wouldn't you want to??!!) I would suggest going along to at least one group and getting the new pack etc. and then going from there - no commitment to go again and at least you'll have the new pack, there are some on Ebay for sale but I think they're quite pricey! Good luck with it - SW is a lifestyle plan xxxx

I got the starter pack off Ebay for £28, don't know how this compares to buying it at meetings. I've tried quite a few diets but have stuck to SW the longest, the amount of 'free' food you can eat, means you don't go hungry. I told myself I would try it for a week and if it didn't work, I'd try something else. Well...I lost 5lb in my first week so I'm now on week 6 and almost lost a stone (I need a bit more will power at weekends!)
Good luck with whichever diet you choose.

I agree with the above ^^^^^^^^ :D

good luck

i definatley agree that slimming world is the better option. i understand weekly meetings could be expensive but the actual meetings give you the motivation and ideas and tips that really help. Plus you could meet a lot of new people that give you the support. On the other hand many people do it without and find it works better for them. As long as you follow the plan youll be fine,, good luck :D

I'm on week 3 of using BodyOptimise.com - as well as working a full (and then some) week I am also a part time student and a volunteer - I really don't have to time to go to a meeting (and I am FAR too shy, I don't even go to my uni tutorials!).

I paid the biggie subscription and got everything, the books were a bit of a let down as you only get the one food optimising one and the body magic one which is not much more than a pamphlet!

The website it fab though, I have no idea how it compares to the site that you have access to when you go to a group but I love it. You get an online food diary which is made up of drop boxes so you can't actually put something in the wrong place (i.e. if something is free it will only fit in the free section, etc so there is NO room for error) and I also have an iPhone so I find it fab for looking up syns when shopping or if I'm at someone's house and I need to look up a snack (yesterday - Cadbury mini roll, 6 syns - so not worth it!).

So yes, I'm still feeling motivated - although a STS last week did rock the boat a little - and I think that's the combination of the website and this forum.

Sorry that I can't add any more - but if you have any questions about the the website please shout!

I have tried at home on my own, body optimiser and classes.
They all work well, it just depends on what support you need at the time.
I think if you have never done it before and you can get your nerve up go to a class, the consultants are a great motivation and they will explain the whole plan to you.
Minimins is a great way to get questions answered at anytime night and day, the support is what has helped me loose 10lbs so far and still be motivated.
Let us know what you decide.

They are very welcoming, and if you can attend I would recommend it.
Speaking from personal experience, I have spent the last 40 years dieting, have done almost every diet invented, been there and owned all the t-shirts, and could never stick to them. Why? No-body was with me and I could never do it on my own.
SW is so welcoming and knowing that everyone there knows how I have done keeps me in check. I love going to group and miss it when I can't make it, which is seldom.
Minimins is fantastic, and the support here is great, and I really appreciate it but for me I also need the human contact. This is my 6th time with SW. Every other time I thought I could do it on my own. Wrong!

The reason I can't go to a meeting is I'm terrified of being in crowds my Dr said it's Agoraphobia but I'd say it's Enochlophobia, I am being treated for it but at this moment in time I just couldn't manage it.

Thanks for all your replies, I really appreciate them. I'm going to try out the 1 week free menu from the site and see how SW suits me, if it suits me I'll just have to stretch the purse strings and join the website ;)

I am so sorry you have to go through this.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
