hello all,

i'm not from this section but when it came to healthy cooking i thought i should try here. i have a friend over tonight who follows SW i'm making meatballs in sauce, she knows what i am using and has added it to her diary in advance to work around it

so do i cook the meat balls then add the sauce, or can i bung it all in a pot and wack it in the over for said amount of time

never cooked meatballs before! not something us irish seem to do

thank folks

I brown them off in a frying pan with some fry light first then add to the sauce... if you pop them all in without cooking them a little first they'll just fall apart in the sauce and end up bit more like a bolognaise! Thats what i do with mine and theyve always come out perfect xxx

Yeah I always cook off first using frylight- I then add to the pan of sauce, which is usually cooking in the slow cooker.

I always cook the meat first just so I know it's cooked and I'm not going to poison myself!

you can either brown them off first on a frying pan, or place them in an oven proof dish, then bake them until golden and then pour the sauce over them and bake until the sauce is heated through.

you need to work the meat mixture together quite well, so that they stick, 1 egg thrown in will help to bind them together. Once you have rolled them into balls, refrigerate them for a couple of hours, this will firm them up even more.

I love meatballs.
