Never Give Up
Am i the only one who has stretch marks that since losing weight have become more visable. anyone else used bio oil to get them less visable? x

I have stretch marks EVERY WHERE!! These are definately getting more visble by the day!! On my breasts, hips arms, bum!! Its very annoying!!

I bought some of that bio oil on offer at boots and used it for a few days and stopped, i dont know what the result is as i didnt use it long enough but thank you for the reminder i will have to start using it again!!

mine seem to be much more visable on my tummy and hips. I would buy some bio oil but its a lot of money to fork out for somthing that may not work.
I have found that my skin is a lot smoother then what it used to be.

Well ill start using mine and give you an update in a week, that is if i actually manage to use it for a week, ill be honest these things are usually short lived with me!!

I found this on How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks - howtogetridofstuff.com theres a few ideas for home remedies which will be a lot let expensive :)

Home Remedies to Remove Stretch Marks

  • Time – Stretch marks, like all types of scarring fade over time.
  • Retin-A (Tretinoin) – 0.1% Tretinoin creams have been shown to significantly reduce the appearance of stretch marks in a study published in the May 1996 Archives of Dermatology. See your doctor for a prescription. These creams work best when used on fresh stretch marks. WARNING: Do not use tretinoin treatments if you are pregnant of breast feeding as the active ingredient may be passed to the unborn child or the breast milk.

  • Exfoliate daily – use a loofah or scrunchy to remove daily.
  • Vic’s Vapor Rub – Many people have reported success using Vic’s Vapor rub by applying it to a washcloth or paper towel and rubbing it forcefully into the scarred skin on a nightly basis for a few weeks.
  • Increase Circulation – by taking hot baths and massaging the areas regularly.
  • Tanning – Go sunbathing! Tanning can diminish and even eliminate minor stretch marks. Be sure to use sun screen. (For information on Tanning, learn the guide to Tanning)

  • Vitamin E Gel – Break open vitamin E capsules and rub the oil into the skin over the stretch marks daily for 2 weeks.
  • Unstretch the skin – After the skin returns to its normal, unstretched size, stretch marks often become nearly invisible.
  • Stretch Mark Creams and Lotions – Using stretch mark creams and stretch mark lotions that heal and beautify your skin can reduce the appearance of stretch marks. The following ingredients are widely accepted as beneficial for this purpose:
    • Cocoa butter
    • Rose hip oil
    • Emu oil
    • Jojoba oil

Thanks Pesty, if mine dont improve I think ill be going to the doctors for some help. x

Well I don't know about stretch marks.. I do have some but they haven't gotten worse at all. Bio oil only shows results after like 3 months of using it every day. I've been using it for a few most, albeit not religiously for some scars on my arm and they seem quite a bit better. I've know of a couple other people who have found it quite useful too. You can get the little bottle which isn't too expensive.

imo bio oil is a bit of a rip off if it takes that long to work- you rubbing pretty much any moisturiser/body butter into the skin for that amount of time should help the skin to heal and marks to fade- i'm fairly sure the massaging in alone would make a difference before you even consider what you're putting on. cocoa butter is good for scars and stretch marks x

See I'm not sure because I use moisturiser and what not pretty much everyday but it doesn't help with my scars, whereas this seems to? It is different at the end of the day, different ingredients and it's oily as opposed to some cream substance... anyway, different strokes for different folks.

Yeah I've heard that cocoa butter works just as well as bio-oil.
You can get a cocoa butter firming lotion too,I've just started using it coz I have alot of weight to lose, maybe it will firm bits up a little and ger rid of my stretchmarks...I know it wont work miracles,Im not expecting a flat stomach from it or anything lol But if all these creams and stuff dont get rid of stretchmarks then just think...at least all that extra attention will have given you softer skin!

Firstly i suggest you to visit your doctor to remove stretch marks, Make an appointment with your doctor and show your all stretch marks also laser surgery and chemical peels remove stretch marks. Its depend up on you where you should to go.

wasn't trying to argue hun! just saying that the massaging action should help after that number of months no matter what you rub in. if it's working for you and you're pleased with it then great, i'm happy for you :) i got some shea butter the other day and the smell is gorgeous! i'm gonna use it for my stretch marks. also perhaps buy an exfoliating body wash, not sure if that was mentioned, but something a bit "gritty" might be the kick start your skin needs to get healed, soft and healthy again.

and @blue butterfly- exactly. and healthy, moisturised skin should mean that stretch marks are less likely to occur again. i sympathise with all, i have them all over, and it gets me down. i am very pale though and once they fade to white they're not so noticeable to the eye, more noticeable to touch imo. xx

Obviously! No worries lol, was just saying that it works for some but not for others as a lot of stuff does. I just think it'd be extreme for anyone to say that it's 'not worth it'.

If you're like me and are completely addicted to 'How to Look Good Naked', they do reviews of products where a hundred women try something and then rank it. They did products for stretch marks and bio oil came second, can't remember what the first one was though but their rating wasn't much different.

is it true that stretch marks are the result of losing weight too quickly? i dont want them and hoping to shed a pound a week so that i don't:0.

stretch marks are usually a sign of weight gain. i have never been a slim person, and have developed mine over time.

yeah i have them too but they're not too bad at the minute. don't want them getting worse like. but happy to know they do disappear in time:) woop

lol you'll have to change your sig now you're down to 3 stone lost, wouldn't like to see them 2 guinea pigs;) fair play and congrats:)

Thanks breadbin!
:)

Ive never really suffered from them. The problem I am getting now is too much loose skin. I have been trying Dove Firming Lotion to try and tighten it but I think there is too much for that. I am going to keep going until goal and then speak to a GP about it I think.

I have found an alternative to Bio Oil. It is available in Wilkinson Stores. I cant remember the exact name of it now, but it is always put next to the Bio Oil, in the same colour packet. The only difference I can see is about £3 cheaper per bottle. Perhaps a good way to test it out without spending a fortune?

what do these oils do? are they moisturising or replenishing? cos i thin i'll try olive oil and see where i get with that, either that or some sort of nut oil:)

ive just started putting coco butter on my stretch marks .. Theyve all of a sudden become a lot more notiacable. Ill let you all knwo how i get on with it x
