Hi all,

had my first weigh in earlier and lost zilch, zero, nada!!
Apart from Saturday night (girls night out at a hotel ;)) stuck to plan all week, ate fresh, homemade meals and fruit, used between 7-11 syns per day and exercised twice. I'm so depressed, I love SW and think it's a fab plan but this is the 3rd time I've joined with little or no success! Maybe it's just not for me? My friend lost a pound and she ate loads over the weekend and did no exercise!!
I'm gonna give it another week or so and then prob go back to WW if it still doesn't work. I just see everone else having so much success and I could squeal!!!! (I've done both green and original before as well!!)

Your girls nite out could easily be responsible even though you were good the rest of the week, not everyone gets away with it.

We had a flexi day once where we thought we weren't too bad, until I got home and worked out approximate synage and we had used a weeks in one nite without even trying! *eeek*

so dont be too despondant...are you putting your food diaries on here? Maybe we can have a looky for you... :)

Thanx for that!! You could be right although I did cut back and exercise more to try and combat it!! I gave my food diary to my leader tonight so she's gonna check it out and show me if I'm going wrong. I have to say that apart from Saturday evening I was sooooooo healthy and haven't had sweets or choccie and haven't missed them either. Really want thus to work as it's such a painless way to lose weight compared to other plans ;-)

little things you could look at are, are you weighing your milk allowance or cheese allowance or just guestamating? Having sugars in tea and coffee and not always syning them? Measuring marj, dressings.

Alway using lean meat? Some of the girls recently realised they weren't using extra lean mince for example. Sticking things on your mouth without syning i,t or remembering you have eaten it. Having 3 meals a day, and superfree snacks.

Also some girls find too many extra easy days or green days makes it hard for them to lose weight so they incorporate more red days.

Have you always exercised or is this a new thing? Do you have a snack before or afterwards? Because if not, have a snack, even if its a banana, as this can help. Stops your body keeping hold of your fat. Especially if you don't normally regularly exercise. The older we get the slower your metabolism gets so you need to promote a healthy metabolism, eating little but often. Sea kelp supplements can help as they are full of iodine which is healthy for your thyroid, which helps boost your metabolism (if your hypothyroid and taking thyroxine, dont take these)

Have you tried the green tea challenge, some of the girls are doing?

I agree with the others hun, one night out could sabotage a week's hard work on plan.
I also think a couple of weeks isn't enough, give it a month. SW really should work for you.
Please don't rely on exercise to increase or speed up your weight loss, so many people expect this to be the case and it isn't. SW say that regular exercise may help shift an extra 14-28lb a year, so only just over a pound a month extra.

Just stick with it, try not to be too down hun and don't compare yourself to others. Did you do a food diary for your consultant so that she can see if you have gone wrong anywhere?

With regards to exercise jaylou has it spot on. I read somewhere that to maintain your body weight you need to do 10,000 steps a day but to actually lose weight you need to do 15,000 steps a day. (If you were walking).

Also if you are exercising a lot then measure, i didnt do this my first time around and the scales were not very stable with me, water retention and other things were changing them every week.

I found that this time after measuring i can see a consistent loss each month, also increasing your fluids if you are exercising.

I am one of the green tea challenge girls and I feel great so maybe give that a go with us :)

I do EE days but carbs dont really agree with me, so i have less of pasta, rice and potatoes on my plate and more superfree and meat.

Please dont give up, good luck

hun its only your first week and sometimes your body tends to go hold on a minute this is different i don't like this and store fat instead of burning it cause we r built to last without food for longer than we do. i have seen no end of woman come to group and not lose for first 3-4 weeks so alittle more some even put on then all of a sudden making no changes they lose a big amount like 7lb or more.
why don't u post your food diary hun and we can check it for u.
i know its disappointing not to lose but stick with it hun

Did you exercise before you started SW? Because that can also have an effect on your weight loss. When we start exercising for the first time for a while the muscles hold onto more water, making us weigh more.

Are you drinking enough water? Paradoxically we need to drink more water to combat water retention.

Apart from my first week, I've lost a consistent half a lb every week. I'm a bit frustrated because it's so slow but having to look at the bigger picture that at least it's half off and not on.

Hi

I've tried the extra easy plan a few times and tbh it just doesn't work for me. i have seldom lost weight on this plan and have even gained on it. i find the original plan is best for me.

I know that ee works for lots of people, but as we're all different and have different blood chemistry and bodies that process nutrients differently it's understandable that it won't work for some people like myself.

I have been struggling with sw since new year but am trying to stick to the plan at the mo.

good luck with things this week.

Hi,

thank you all for your advice. I'll post a typical days food diary for you to have a look at. I really haven't been feeling that good since starting extra easy and think that it may be to do with the increase in Pasta and pulses that i am consuming. I feel so bloated and my gut problems are really getting on top of me at the moment (gurgling, wind:eek:, intermittent C & D) Gonna visit the docs as it sounds like IBS or something similiar. The only time i don't have these symptoms was when i was on Cambridge last year but i don't want to go down that road again.

Breakfast - beans, HEXB bread, poached egg, 2 Tesco light choice Cumberland sausages (2 syns), mushrooms.

snack - mandarin orange, grapes

Lunch - homemade minestrone (wholewheat pasta, onion, swede, garlic, carrot, celery, tomatoes, chicken) Danone shape yoghurt,

Snack - pear

Dinner - homemade lasagne (extra lean mince, onion, pepper, courgette, tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms, pasta sheets, fat free cottage cheese and fromage frais and HEXA reduced fat cheese.) Mullerlite yoghurt.

Snack - 2 rice cakes (3 syns)

Skimmed milk to tea - (1 syn)

Let me know what you think,

thanks

Maybe different diets just suit different people. I did SW for 5 months with no results. People came up with all sorts of reasons why, most to do with my cheating or not sticking to plan. I ahve switched to WW and lost3lbs in one week. Maybe thats a blip, time will tell, but its more than I lost in 5 months of SW. Also one good night can sabotage a whole weeks work. Without a doubt. After a whole week of 100% take stock and see where you are.

Lynda

Hi Lynda,

Thanks for that. Well done with your 3lb loss with WW:)

I know WW works and lost shed loads of weight on it before but i just can't stick to it at present and really needed a change. I really want SW to work because it is so easy to stick to. I am portion controlling without worrying about how many points i'm having, am eating no rubbish whereas with WW i was always saving points for treats. I don't even want to eat choccie or crisps and haven't been hungry for over 2 weeks all by eating free foods.

I shall just have to see what the next couple of weeks do and then no doubt i'll be heading back to WW:sigh:

Good luck;)

Your menu looks really good and varied! All i would suggest is to ensure you have enough mushrooms to fill 1/3rd of your plate (appolgies if you already do!!)

And the advice i got was to have more fruit than veg - like you most of my snacks are fruit! and this is the advice i was given, i tried it last week and lost 3lbs (in also on the 'green tea trial' and upped my water intake)

Hope this helps

xx

Thanks for that Pesty. This would be a typical day for me and I know it's nice and healthy;) Unfortunately I'm as bloated as a balloon so am switching to Original after my next weigh in and if that doesn't work then Weightwatchers here I come. Really don't understand it:cry: So so want this to work!:sigh:

Drinking green tea and eating activia has really helped with my bloating!! I couldnt do green days for the same reason so i have switched to EE and limited my carbs, mainly only having starchy veg, this has really helped.

Good luck i really hope it works for you :)
