The title says it all,Im on the verge after 3 years of research having a Gastric Band
So I started Weightwatchers on 01/3/10 in hope this time I will change my lifetime of yoyoing and emotional eating.

Day 3 of WW and Im feeling this can work,if it doesnt I have to look at the realistic dangers of an Operation, general anasetic and infection of a Lap Band

I have actually to get to the healthy bmi 25 to lose 7 stones 7lbs or 105lbs

I have spent 4 years on cambridge diet and Ligherlife, celebrity slim,W8,and another vlcd meal replacement and sadly I am 3 stone 2 lbs heavier  thats me not the plan they all work its just maintance that fails my mind, its like in 2006 I was 18lbs off bmi 25 18lbs????? So I feel get my mind on this plan for life and EXERCISE!!!!! I did areobics in 2006 2-3 times a week and walked alot but since 2005 I have moved house 6 times had bad depression, found my 'partner' cheated moved out the family house now live alone with my 3 children so emotionally I have used food as a friend.

So I hope this diary will show how I do this get over the fact 'DIETS' dont work life time healthy eating and exercise do :D

xx

Good luck :) I hope it works out for you this time. If maintaining is your problem then WW probably is the best diet to go for as it's more of a lifestyle change.

Hiya, well done on not taking the Gastric plunge. I nearly did a few years back and i'm so glad i didn't :)

I started out at 259lbs heavy and since August i've shed 30.5lbs! It can be done - trust me. WW is just brilliant and i now see it as a way of life, not a diet.

Sorry to hear about all of your troubles in the past, you should look at this as a new beginning! Keep us posted with how you're getting on :)

Hi thanks for reading and replying I appreciate it :D
I am still considering the band as I have done WW every year and other plans but the fear of something going wrong I think is keeping me straying, even with the Band it will take the same amount of time to lose the weight so I need to get my head in the place of LIFE CHANGE
Well done you I do like WW and usually lose on it I lost 3 stone in 5 months on it a few years back and in 2005 I lose 1 st 9 in 9 weeks so I know with exercise it does work.
Thanks again xx:D

gastric band

hi 102b my friend had a band fitted about 5 months ago she has lost a lot of weight but said the problem is it hasnt changed her attitude to food she still wants to pig out and tries to but is then sick i would say 99% of dieting is getting in the right frame of mind and staying there but good luck with what ever you choose to do :)

Hi Valerie
My friend has also had one done 2 years ago Id say shes lost 3 stone max but she says 5 1/2,she eats as she used high calorie food diet, has had to have her band unblocked several times and with her own admittance hates and wont exercise,I totally agree with you its frame of mind thats why its taken me 6 months to get my head around a proper plan and realistically know its going to take me a long time to lose this weight
Many Thanks for reading and replying :D xx
P.S I just saw you live n Bexhill I used to work in the cafe in Tescos there xx

Hello and welcome to the diary's always nice to have a new one to read I wish you well on the future journey and in getting to learn the secret of mantaining and beyond.
I honestly don't think the answer is in having surgery because anyone even with having that done can find ways around these things as you said yourself your friend is a prime example.
As you said vlcd do work of course they do did for me also 3 or 4 times but what exactly do you learn the answers can't be found in the consumption of a milkshake or a nutrional bar
The answer has to come from within you Ww will give you the basics but the rest is up to you.

I am in a similar position, this for me is a last ditch attempt before surgery. In every other county apart from my own, i'd qualify with a BMI of over 50, but here you have to have a BMI of over 60. So i'm ww'ing while we try and save for the op, could take some time as i only work part time. I know ww works but with mental health and other physical issues a diet isn't always enough and i'd rather have an op to get me healthy then die at 40 from a heart attack. I may find by the time i can afford the op i've lost enough to no that surgery isn't an option anymore. Good luck whatever happens x

Hiya I think we spoke before and you were lovely, yep when it comes to a life time of emotional eating it will take another life time to conquer it
I am going to give it my best,I will say my other friend had a gastric bypass and lost 9 stone in 8 months still eats junk but in tiny portions and has stayed after 2 years at 9 st 6 But I couldnt do that with 1/200 people dying.
I think I have to tell myself why eat it makes me sad when Im not hungry/
Thanks alot ofr reading and replying :)xx

Hi Nicki
I think your near me Im on the isle of wight and yes its bm60???
Im wating for a house sale to go through to have the band but I have this gut feeling not too......see we are inthe same team also.if you want a buddy give me a shout. It is nice to see someone who knows exactly how I feel as you have said how I feel,we all know dieting changing the way we eat and exercise is the best way but when you have done that over and over we hit a brickwall dont we
I think though everyone heres been really friendly and we can do it this time hey :Dxx

I can so empathise with your years of dieting and the last attempt before gastic banding. I'm at that stage myself. Like you, have decided that ww is the way to go. I dont know if you are like me in that I no longer know what it is to eat 'normally' anymore. After years of either being on a diet or bingeing I have to relearn how to control my cravings and urges to binge and learn portion control.

I agree that there is a lot of head work to be done and am going to give it my all. I am in no doubt that this is my last ditch attempt and if I cant do it this time I will def have a gastric band. Unfortunately I will have to pay as in Wales there is no funding available.

Good luck to you and I will follow your journey while I carry on mine.

Hi Vanda ((hugs))
Its horrible isnt it getting to that hitting your head aganst a brickwall stage where we try everything only to reapeat the same old yoyo and w know how happier we are slim hey :(
I think Im actually terrified having a lapband done so I have to do this I was 40 last year and think I owe it to myself to get my head sorted stop using food as a 'friend' and get my arse in gear as I keep startng stopping over and over.Id have to pay to as Id have to be bmi 60 and over to get funding asked doc and I researched and Im bmi 44 now so really feel like Ive let myself down you'll know what I mean.If you want a buddy too let me know its easier having someone who knows how you feel.
I hope you get to the headplace where it works its along journey but maybe lets make it our last one? xx

Yes lets make this out last journey!

I'm 47 now and well remember when I told myself I was not going to be fat and 40 - I was, then I wasnt going to be fat and 45 - I was again. This time I'm not going to be fat and 50 however I do it - do it I will.

Am going to plan some goals tomorrow and prepare my menu for the week ahead. I thought I'd keep a food and feelings diary.

Are you going to classes? I'm going it alone this time may join on line if I need to but am using the books and this site as support.

Looking forward to hearing how you get on. its always good to buddy up with similar folk!

Vanda, I honestly wouldn't waste your money on joining Ww online
the support via the forum is nowhere on a patch with here
and its certainly not worth joining for the online point calculator as there is always someone on here who will know or be able to work out the points for you.
Support wise this is the best place to be, I think in my opinion as a lot of us are in the same boat ie been there before know how good it feels to be slim but just have absolutely no idea of how to maintain.
I think its going to be safety in numbers, this feels like my safety net I know its here I know someone here will feel the same as I do.
We have to be there for each other, we can do this, we really can

Hi Me too Im going it alone and this site is fantastic, yes shelll we make it our moto
OUR LAST JOURNEY
I too dd teh not fat at 30 ,35 ,40 and my mum did before me and sadly here I am like you and we I feel now deserve to be slim and healthy dont you ;). I too have done my diary for the next three
months, have you got a blog on here too?Mine starts abit heavy lol but its good to read back.I too am going to do it alone until I need online help as its the way with me I spend lots then leave so this time Im tackling it differently.I think we will be ok this is the right time and it is great to have buddies :D
I have joind both my local groups last year 2 times and the year before 2 times,I sadly have done ww and not mintained so I know everything they are going to say and Im a slow loser so I work hard but lose slow and found the leader was lovely but she just would go on how great the lady whos lost the most was doing and we should all take note as if we do then we too can lose as good as her? The thing was I was going to the gym 3 times a week and aquafit 2 times a week and sticking to plan and still only 1-2lbs a week which is right BUT this lady was just doing the paln and losing 3-5lbs per week  so I found that hard and gave up going and regained the 10lbs Id lost in 4 weeks  That was a year ago since then my partner cheated and I moved out live alone with my 3 children so its been a start stop year.
I look forward to seeing how you do and we shell keep each other motivated if you like?xx:flirt2:

Thats not right for a leader to put one member on a pedalstall we all do lose and different rates.
And its not 100% certain that this lady was following the diet to the letter, I remember going to a class a good few years back
where someone was losing weight at 4/5 pounds a week turned out she was medically unsupervised eating all of 300 calories a day and no one had nay idea untill she collapsed and was taken to hospital

 god thats bad ... It did put me off sadly as I made a nice friend there and we didnt swop numbers so I feel that the leader should see all losses as good not just the big ones xx
