Hey Everyone!

Well for one reason or another I have quit my weight loss journey until today!
I'm fully motivated and ready to start.

I wanna start jogging, Tomorrow I am going to put up some trackies, t-shirt and armless coat to jog in.

I also bought a Ipod today lol.

Really could do with some advice on getting started.
My start weight was 225 lbs but been on scales today and to my shock I'm down to 214 lbs!

So I wanna keep this going and improve my weightloss and fitness.

I have some good running shoes they pump with air as you walk to secure your feet in place.

Really need some help on getting started also some good jogging music would help!

Hope to hear from ya :D

Hiya Prue

There's a few of us on the excercise and fitness forum doing c25k. It's an online programme designed for people with little or no running experience designed to start you off slowly, with the aim of getting you running 5k in around 9 weeks. I have only done the first session so far but found it great, tough (I have like no level of fitness) but really fun. Their are podcasts you can download which have music to jog to and help you with your timing. I think one of the other ladies has put a link on the excercise forum, so check it out and if you liek the sound then come join us.

That sounds fantastic!
Would really like to join.
Could you tell me where abouts the link is please?

Hey Prue, you might wanna check out the fitness and exercise question, they all know what they're talking about.

Otherwise, from personal experience, I could only advise you to take it easy, cos I sprained my ankle a few weeks after starting jogging because I wasn't used to it and was quite heavy (about your weight now), which was hard on my ankles. Then I had to stop even walking for a few weeks.

So maybe you should do some walking, or do it quite fast, or alternate walking and jogging in the same half hour? Anyway, make sure you stretch properly afterwards and that you don't push yourself too hard.

Good luck :) Hope that helps.

Couch to 5k - C25K Running Program

Not sure if the above will come out as a clicky link, or even if it will post at all. if not, or even so, if you go to the main page and scroll down to Health, nutrition and recipes section and under it the Fitness and excercise board, there is a thread called c25k (or something with it in the title anyway), and there is a clicky link on that, then you can post on there and join us.

Just Peachy is right about starting slowly, that's why to start with c25k has you alternating short bursts of jogging with walking, and there's no pressure to move up to the next level until your ready (of course it will take longer to reach the 5k). I may stay at level 1 a bit longer coz for a few weeks I may not be able to commit the reccomended three sessions a week, what with work until he clocks go forward and give me some more light n the evenings. Like I say come see us on the other thread and we'll get you all set.b

Avoid oily/junk food and take juice, salads etc which is helpful for reducing weight and make anyone attractive again.
