Less syns better weight loss?

I am on EE and barely use any syns.

Have lost almost 2 stone since middle of November pretty steadily, but had a funny few weeks so going to mix it up a bit.

Have done 2 red days and 1 green day this week and used syns those days just to have meat on green or potatoes on red etc.

I also use my syns somedays for gravy, or the odd alpen light or hifi.

But because I am mixing it up a bit this week, last night I had a milky bar (3.5 syns - not had chocolate since xmas) and tonight i had half a bag of sensation crisps (3.5 syns).

I dont really need to eat this things, I have the willpower to avoid them, and have done so since mid November.

But if my syns allow them, should I have them, or will i lose quicker by cutting them out?

No, I don't think there is any evidence that having fewer syns means you loss faster. In fact some people actually find the opposite to be true. Your syns are there to ensure you don't feel deprived because as they say, a little of what you fancy does you good. Depriving yourself eventually leads to people falling off the wagon in a bigger way, so you should try to have a minimum of 5 a day. You also need to think ahead to when you get closer to target. Some people find they need to cut back on syns at that point and if you're not having very many then you're not leaving yourself anywhere to go.

I am one of those people who have found the opposite to be true! Like yourself I have the will power to resist crisps and sweets and stuff, so found not using my syns to be a doddle. I used them on low fat spread, gravy and odd bits and pieces in recipes but never in significant amounts. Then my weight loss stalled. I didn't know the reason for it, and got fed up and decided to take a few days off-plan. I didn't really go off-plan though, I just became care-free about syns and had a few little treats, a cake one day and ice-cream another day (I'm not mad, I'm in Australia so it's hot here! :p ) and a piece of crumbed mackerel from the fish shop another day. So nothing major, but definitely using my syns and since then I've started losing weight again, and as Circes says, if my weight loss stalls again, this time I might try cutting back on syns a little bit. We shall see! The other difference is that I'm making sure I use my HexB(s) which sometimes I didn't.

Good luck with your weightloss! :fingerscrossed:

Good advice there from Circes and OzzieMoz, thank you both.
