heya everyone

as you can tell i am new here and in need of your help! i have tried every diet there is and nothing ever seems to work for me.i have been 11st2lbs for as long as i can remember and have never been able to shift the pounds.i will start a diet and then after a few days or a week i just give up. lately i have been even worse saying oh i will start tomorrow and tomorrow never comes!

i am a complete sugar addict! and cant go a day without having something sugary which is one of my biggest problems. if i eat something that i class as bad food then i just throw in the towel n think oh well i already been bad so i may aswell make the most of it. i am a bridesmaid at the end of may, another 3 weddings to go to later in the year and most importantly my own wedding in july 2011 but still not even this makes me stick to anything! what will make me get off my arse!

even though i know all this i cant change myself and dont know how to.

please can i have some help or advice or a reality check if you think i need it!

Im very similar to you, in that I am a complete sugar addict too and I find it hard to stick to diets, this time Im losing baby weight and just not happy being the size I am which is making me plug away at it. Is there anyway you could just decide to be happy as you are and forget dieting?

If not, I found doing atkins for a few weeks really helped me with my sweet tooth, Im doing ww now and can eat sweet things I just realised I didnt need or want nearly as much as I thought I did. Good luck

Hi kitty. First of all, diets don't work. What works is changing your attitude towards food, which sometimes coincides with going on a diet. If you really want to lose weight, you need to understand the science behind it, and what I suggest is to basically count your calories.

As you may know, a pound is 3500 calories so if you want to lose a pound a week, you have to burn 500 calories a day. You can find out what your BMR is (basal metabolic rate, google it) and then substract 500 calories a day, and without doing any exercise, you'll slowly but surely lose a pound a day. It's worked for me and for many others on here. Otherwise there are other options obviously, check out the different options on the forums.

As for the sugar, I'm the same. But trust me, the less sugar you eat, the less you crave it, and the sweeter and more sickly it gets so afterwards when you do have it, it's as if you don't want that much of it. It's hard at first but you'll get used to it if you stick to it.

Hopefully that helps :)

hi i have to agree with all the other comments on here i have been "dieting" for 30 years only to get heavier each time i have tried every diet going and failed but its not the diets fault its mine i give up after a couple of weeks, i think most diets work if you stick with them i am going to w/w have lost 7lbs in 3 weeks which i am happy with its a case of making better food choices and being in the right frame of mind i too am a sugar addict one bite usually sets me off on a binge but i bought some rich toffee bars from my w/w class and manage to just eat the one bar with out it setting me off on a binge good luck x
