Healthy extras - should I syn instead???

Need a little bit of advice - I know it's generally best to go for the full healthy extras, but sometimes I don't fancy a full 5 laughing cow cheeses - I know this is recommended as it's all to do with calcium, but that aside, would it actually affect my losses. I've never gone over on them, generally under and always taken the view that at the end of the day SW or not, all diets come down to one thing - less fat/calories equals more of a loss, what do you lot think? Saw a friend the other night who's on SW and she said if I don't have the full HEA/B I should count as syns....

I was the same as you, I can't eat 2 weetabix so would just have one & not have the other, until i checked with my C & found out it should be syned . I now have all my hexs & things do seem to be better, my weight losses are still slow but I noticed I either sts or lose but don't gain as often.

I know what you mean about the lc cheeses, but I may put 1 in a sandwich and syn it, and go for some grated cheese on a jacket or a hot milky drink to use up my hea. sometimes I make a rice pudding and syn the rice ( I do red days, but I believe the pudding rice would be free on EE if you are doing that)

good luck :D

I know I'm going to set the cat among the pigeons here, but I've noticed this one coming up a lot here on the forum - and it seems to be very much of one Consultant saying one thing and another saying something quite different.

Is there definitive guidance from Head Office that you have to Syn Healthy Extras if you don't have the whole portion? If there is, I'll shut up immediately. :D

But as far as I can tell, it doesn't say that anywhere in the books, it doesn't say anything about it on BodyOptimise and in the FAQs on the SW site it says:

Q: Do I have to eat all my Healthy Extras every day?

A: It won't affect your weight loss if you don't take all your Healthy Extra choices. However, the Healthy Extra section is there to ensure a balanced diet, so from a health point of view we recommend that you enjoy all your Healthy Extras each day.

Now I can see that you might not get enough fibre/calcium/other nutrients if you don't consume the whole HEX allowance - but I can't see how that would affect weight loss. And if you eat plenty of fibre rich foods (fruit, veg) and other calcium rich foods (VLF yogurt, VLF cottage cheese) anyway, how can it make any difference?

I would love to see a detailed explanation - plus back up for this way of thinking from Head Office (not just 'my Consultant says'. Can anyone shed any light on this?
