Newbie - feeling overwhelmed

Hi, I am new to all this, I started Cambridge Sole Source this morning after meeting my consultant yesterday. I have a horrifying 12st (at least) to loose. I am mum to 3 little girls, all under 2. I had a difficult first pregnancy with awful morning sickness the whole 9mths that was only made bearable by eating carbs - toast, biscuits, crisps, you name it. My daughter was born in Sept 08. To my absolute horror I fell pregnant again within weeks of having her(literally first time 'lucky') whilst breastfeeding. My 2nd pregnancy was even worse, constant sickness, and at my 12wk scan I was found to be carrying identical twins:eek:. They were born a few weeks prem in May 09. Before my 1st pregnancy I was a 'big girl', weighing in at about 15st. I am now 23st. I have just stopped breastfeeding my twins and am ready to concentrate on my weight - I need to be fit, healthy and active with these 2 around!

The first day has been really tough, and I feel shattered. I nearly delayed starting as I was up all night as all the girls have nasty colds and as soon as I settled one another woke up wailing:sigh: but I decided I would always have an excuse to delay if I allowed myself to.

So here I am, and I think I will need this forum to see me through!

Hiya Faith! I thought my life was hectic! I had 3 kids in 3 years and 3 months (4yr old son, 2 and 1 yr old daughters)! Your life and house must be manic, lol! But wonderful with lots of love! It is hard doing this diet as a mom, but just think how determined you will be given that you have your wonderful babies to run around the park with when you are healthier!! Also my kids stop me from cheating on CD as I the money I am spending could be going on them instead!!

I know how you feel with tiredness! Its one after the other every night! My 2 year old got up at 3am to use the toilet, woke her little sister who then stayed awake for 3 hours!! Our house is 3 stories and everytime my youngest cried I was having to walk down 2 flights of stairs!! Then back up them to go back to bed :( When I finally settled her, her sister was at the side of my bed telling me it was time to get up 6.45am!! Then my son fell out of bed so back down the stairs to him!! Then my wonderful hubby 2 be got a big lecture off me about me not sleeping and kindly took all the kids downstairs :) 2 hours later my son is back at my side (I was asleep and his dad was downstairs) asking me to do up his spiderman suit! I didnt no whether to scream or cry so I got up, lol!!

MOAN OVER!!! Just wanted to let you know - YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!

:) xx

blimey lol i have 5 children! aged 11, 10, 3 and 2 year old twins! i fell pregnant when my 3 yr old was 8 weeks old and it was twins i had a nervous breakdown at the time lol. anyway we are supermums yay!! ive got 6 stone to lose my body hasnt been the same since having the twins.i understand how difficult it can be with the children and trying to do this diet but i really feel it will be worth it in the long run im only on day 2 it is hard but we can do it!!!

Aw thanks ladies, its great to have support.

The girls are restless again tonight - all running temperatures of over 102 and coughing like lifelong smokers:( At least I am too busy looking afte them to think about being hungry.

HI Faith - firstly, to you, and to the other supermums here, I am totally in awe of you all - I can barely look after myself and my cat, never mind children!
Good luck in your journey on CD - I am sure that once you get over the first few days, you will feel fab and start seeing results quickly! Everyone here is so lovely, you'll find all the support you need from the great peeps who post. I hope your little ones are feeling better soon - let us know how you are getting on! :) xx

Welcome :)

Good for you tackling your weight so soon after your babies came along!!!

You won't regret starting Cambridge :) it's one of the best things I've ever done! I've lost 7 stone since may 09 ( with time off inbetween for holidays etc) and I'm so happy to be slim!

You CAN do it!!!!!! Xxxxx

Hi Faith,

All the luck and love in the world, you're doing the right thing, just remember the first week is the hardest, it really is true, hang in there and it'll be plain sailing after that.

Good luck!

Hey,

Welldone for taking the plunge. I thought i would share my journey and show you an example of what is possible if you stay determined and stick to the plan. i dont have children (yet) but got married last year and we are planning to start a family when i get to goal.

In feb 2008 i proposed to my bf and he said yes. We set a date for may 2009. Then the race REALLY was on as i was a whopping 22st and at 5ft 4 i felt disgusting. So anyway, i tried WW and stuck to it month after month, doing work out dvds as i was too shy and worried about going to the gym.
WW was tough, i stuck to it 100% but my losses were slow and at one point i went through a whole month and lost NADA!
With desperation i turned to Cambridge, by this time is was October 2008 and getting married in May 2009 was looming and i just couldnt do it anymore. I knew I COULD NOT go through another week of sticking to plan and exercising and not lose anything.

So at the end of October 2009 i contacted my local CC and went to see her. At this point i was 20st. I started the diet and managed to keep to it month after month. Steady losses which averaged out to 3lbs a week over 5 months. Some weeks were tough and so if i was having a tough day i would up the plan to SS+ for the day. It stopped me coming off the diet and kept me in Ketosis for the whole time.
In December 2008 i even went on an All Inclusive holiday to Egypt for a week with Fiance. I just had a tiny bit of chicken and green veg each day. I lost 7lbs that week. :)

Unfortunately i didnt have enough time to get to goal as i needed to start getting back to food, what with the wedding and hen do etc coming up.

I went up the stages and then went back on to WW. My last WI of Cambridge was 14st 7lbs.

Now, nearly a year later, i have maintained and my first WI with my new CC(my old on packed it in) and i was still 14st 7lbs.

This time i plan to get to 10st 7lbs and maintain that.

Just wanted to share this with you as you are a similar starting weight to me.

I wish you all the luck. It will DEFINATELY be worth it when you can go shopping and buy things you LIKE rather than what FITS.

Goodluck, if you need any help or advice just ask.

Hugs!

Hey - remember there are different plan on Cambridge - if you find yourself really struggling on SS try SS+. I know it seems that SS will be quicker and we'll get there faster, but you have to look at whats better for you.

We're all on the journey to the same destination, just some of us take a different road!

Hang in there, and talk to your CDC about maybe having a small SS+ meal on those days when you feel you need something if you are totally wiped. Dont feel down about it, you have a massive responsibility and energy commitment in those three wee ones.

Keep us updated on how you are doing (when you can ;)) and we'll help you keep going as best we can :D

my hat goes off to you. 3 girls under 2 wow! i've just finished breastfeeding my little man, matthew 10 months. i also have a little girl, emily who's 3 years old.

welcome and don't look at just loosing 12 stone but gaining some friends and loosing weight at the same time. 12 stone sounds a lot but i've known many that have done it and i'm sure that it'll drop off you in no time you'll have a really big significant loss in your first week. i've melted away 10lbs so far since monday am weigh in and i've got just under 3 stone to go.

i put on loads (around 5 stone) whilst pregnant with my daughter then lost it with CD, then fell pregnant with my son and although being more careful i put on 5 stone again. i dropped some doing weight watchers after putting on weight breastfeeding. i seem to get a false sense of security to how much you can actually eat whilst breastfeeding. i'm so stupid.

Thanks for the lovely supportive and inspirational stories, its lovely to hear them.

Well, hunger hasn't been a problem for me the last couple of days, altough exhaustion definately has been! 2 of the girls now sem a lot better, one of the little ones is still quite poorly and now I have got it too:( Hubby works off shore for months at a time (not ideal, but he loves his job, earns good money, and then has 2mths at home with us without work at a time which can be lovely) so going to bed myself is not an option. But nevermind, I'm a mum, we don't do ill lol!:p

I am feeling very chilly (in spite of a temperature) so fingers crossed that is ketosis kicking in. I took a naughty peek at the scales and seem to have dropped about 5lb already which I hardly dare to believe but its really motivating me!

Hi and welcome, you will feel the cold i'm afraid, i had that feeling for a few weeks.
Good to hear you are coping well so far, having the 3 kids takes your mind off eating at least, lol
Btw if you do struggle with wanting something to eat then def have a ss+ day as i ss+ all week and my losses are just as good as people on ss. Don't drive yourself mad when a chicken salad could make the day so much more bearable. Good luck!

5lb is very real. Keep going hun and use that weight loss to drive you through the feelings of temptation.

Well done you, keep going

Charlie xx
